I just got mine a couple weeks ago! I'll post pics of it soon. As soon as I got it I transferred into a larger terra cotta pot, and added straight foxfarm potting soil. I wasn't able to find much info on the ideal soil conditions, but knowing it's a tropical plant a soil like foxfarm seemed like it would be a good match. What soils did everyone else use? Also I still have a plastic humidity bag with holes in it over my plant; will I have to keep it in there for a long time?

Any rich soil will do. Fox farms will suit it just fine.
As for thw humidity dome acclimate slowly.

Hell yeah ferrel! I've never had leaves that yooge! Nice work. I'm looking forward to the day I can get a hirasu of my own... Quite beautiful
And height wise it looks like it'd be cool waiting on a transplant, given that pot its in... But with those big Daddy leaves, I dunno. I'm sure he's a happy fella tho... Sure seems like it

One of three leaves on my plant today fell of when I was watering. I got it about 2 weeks ago and put it in indirect sunlight. It's actively growing but I don't want to risk anything. The leaves are a little pale and have some brown spots on them. Am I doing anything wrong?

Very common from what i can conjure up in my mind. A pic would help out. Those seem like common occurrences during shipping.

As can be seen from the last few pages, i am clearly no expert. But like you i had some problems with leaf color and eventually they started to curl. Repotted them and figured out they were totally rootbound in their old pots. If you have yet to repot them it may be worthwhile. Too early to say for mine but one seems to be doing better and sprouting a new leaf and the other has gotten worse though i suppose that reflects the state it was in before a stressful transfer. There's no way they would have survived in those old pots though. I thought they were too small for such roots, but one was like 60+% roots in that pot

JacksonMetaller said: Ferrel-human, here are the new pics. I decided they're better off in this new thread so i can get more community input. I notice there are also brown spots and holes on some leaf. I have a mold issue indoors so i really hope that's not a factor here. They're not totally dying yet, but the leaves are definitely getting a bit crunchier, lighter colored, and curled up by the day. The second picture is really the worst of it. The first ones doing decent but the bigger leaves are starting to curl a bit

Im not sure if this was already stated because I havent read the whole tread yet but I just got 3 babies (smaller than yours) 2 BB and 1 Rifat and yesterday it was really windy and the dirt dried out really fast on me and the leafs started to get crunchy and curled up like yours but luckily I caught them before they got too bad.
I think is the lack of humidity thats causing that.
These plants love the humidity and normally its really humid here and they do just fine when I take them out, even in full sun, but yesterday they were not in fun sun but it was windy and not as humid as it normally is and this happened, so I think it has to be the humidity.
Im no expert but this is

Lipa Kreepa said: Hey a little fire under our asses isn't always the worse thing amd sure I'm happy to help. I'm no organics expert either but let me start by asking this... In your town is there a hydro/organics store you can get to? If so, just pick up a bag of fox farm ocean forest (if available... That's the first soil I used on kray and he loved it!) If not whatever mix they have made for potted plants. Go with one that has earthworm castings in it. That has a great deal of microbes and even a fungi element that will be awesome for your journies through the world of organic farming. Krat likes a well drained soil, so pick up some perlite and a brick of coco coir. Just remember to rip off a piece of the coco and soak it in water for about a day.. Though use clean water (RO, distilled or rain) and change about 2-3x in that period... Or do it for a longer soak time and change every 1-3 days... Ive soaked for well over a week... This soak is to not only expand and hydrate the dry, solid hunk but to also leech out any salts from the fiber. I like to do a few soaks honestly... But a day should suffice. Use clean water because we are trying to leech out salts and what have you, not swap one for the other depending on what soil you get and how packed with rich organic material it is, will determine what else to put in there. Bone meal is a good choice for P and it seems to break down a little slower than others. Though I still don't put too Much in there. For a paint buckets worth of soil, I'll use a tablespoon... Maybe two. But that's if its a pretty basic mix. Fox farm is already loaded up nicely and likely just needs some perlite and coco coir to loosen it up. I typically use 1 cup of perlite plus 1 cup of coco for every 3 to 4 cups of organic soil, a sprinkle of bone meal, and then depending on how I'm feeling with the OG organic soil, maybe some composted crab meal. But honestly that shit, as awesome as it is, is very VERY strong and if you're new to all this and are unsure as to how strong youre organic soil is... Its prob better to leave it out.
Over the years I've come to just eye ball and go with intuition when it comes to making up soil mixes... So those ratios can change and I wouldn't say that's a concrete formula to use. But I will say that kratom is a very tolerant plant and will likely be happy with whatever organic soil you give to it. Just make sure its a big pot because it needs root space! You could very well go to homedepot or whatever and buy some miracle grow ORGANIC SOIL and just add some perlite and coco coir in the mix with the ratio above and it would be fine. But its always better to buy local and to support your local hydro/organic shop. They'll appreciate your business and are typically knowledgeable and will GIve you their honest opinion as to what would be best. Just try and shoot for a serl with earthworm castings but again if they have it, go with foxfarm ocean forest to get you started, that or the the equivalent soil that they have and recommend.
I know this was a bit of a scattered post, but hopefully there's some useful info in there. I'm sure a few others will chime in. Just stay away from garbage soils with slow release petrochemical fertilizers and a mostly peat base. But again, krat is tuff and will likely be patient while you learn the ropes... Esp if you keep it indoor during the winter. If you are unsure about your soil then transplant into a pot one size or two under a paint bucket and just give it something to hold it over for a few months until you get a better perspective and better resources... That and don't forget to show your babies some love affection. It does make a difference, esp during times of stress for them.
As for how long to acclimate regarding the light... Just (and keep in the shade for about a week, then gradually acclimate it to receiving more and more.
Hope some of this helps Happy growing... Show them love and theyll be fine. Just remember to stay calm and kratom!

I need some help guys...
I just got some baby cuttings: BB, Rifat, Goji berry plants, Justica Pectoralis var. Stenophylla, Bala Sida Cordifolia Asiatica, Zornia Latifolia Maconha and soon Ill have a RVT as well. It's been about a week since I got them so I figured this was long enough for them to recover from the shipping shock and I want to repot them before they get root bound. So I went to Lowes and...
I just bought this click here and I read this after the fact... What a waste of time.
I want to have the very best for my plants and the only reason I chose this was because it is nice, loose and fluffy.
But this has sphagnum peat moss, coir and wetting agent and I see Lipa said not to get these crappy peat soils with petro ferts, not sure if it has petro ferts or not but it says it feeds plants up to 6 months so they are slow release ferts and its NOT organic.
Should I return this and get something different?
I also got these:
Click here. Should I keep this? I saw someone said fish emulsions were good for these little guys and gals so thats why I got this(is this a fish emulsion lol please excuse my ignorance I thought it was but then I noticed it says it or something in it is derived from fish emulsions)
Click here. I noticed after I got this that it says it contains Diatomaceous Earth but I thought it was only Diatomaceous Earth so should I keep this?)
& Im pretty sure this one is a keeper... What you guys think?... Click here
Thank you guys
Love & Light

Well guys i got my rifat coming in tomorrow. Almost 7 days transit time. I am not expwcting a very healthy plant at all. So here is my course of action. Mixe aome of my high phosphorus floweri g ferts i the mix. Water with a kelp extract and fish emulsion. Now my question is does anyone think thats overkill? I mean the plant is gonna be stressed as fuck and i dot want to overwhelm it but it will need sowething yummy to get started. How is everyone rehabbing their shipped plants.
