When I need to leave mine for a few days, I'll put them in a kiddie pool from the dollar store with several inches of water. That will hold them for several days. I'm planning on leaving for a week or longer in the middle of summer, I need to experiment to test the limits of that before I go. I'll post when I do it, but I need to wait until they are in full swing and aggressively consuming water. Once they are doing that, I'm pretty sure they can stay in standing water, like a cypress tree in a swamp.

These are my smallest plants they came from clones I took off the tree. I'll repot them soon and eventually get them in the ground.

Damn those are some really nice clones pinedownpioneer! What strain is that? Your mother tree must be quite big to be able to take so many big clones from it, great job. Loving the trichs in the background too!
Anyone growing Mitragyna Parvifolia? I bought some seeds that should be here soon, along with some Red Thai seeds.
Here are my best Rifat seedlings as of yesterday:

Out of curiosity, how exactly do you sow these seeds?
I ordered some, and am currently experimenting. I have some on top of a pot with soil in a humid chamber, as well as in a pot in a bag on a window sil, other paper toweled in a bag, and some in a pot under a tiny bit of coco coir.
I imagine, because they are so small, the y should just be placed ontop of the soil, in a humid environment

First time I did it pretty much exactly as you described. I sow them on the surface of the soil, and keep them in a mini greenhouse, on a heatmat. I tried the paper towel method, and while I had some germination that way, it was less successful than in the soil and getting the seedlings off the paper towel was a pain in the ass.
Now the only thing I'd change is I'll sterilize the medium before sowing, algae and cobweb can quickly become a problem in this hot and moist environment we're creating for them.
Sow kratom like you would do cacti, basically. They're even slower growing than peyote during the first month or so, ime.

Man those are gorgeous seedlings and Malaysian clones! Kudos to both of you. I've never grown from seeds. I thought someone needed then to be freshly harvested. That post gives me some hope, I'd really like to grow like that one day. I just got into cacti from seeds and its so freaking rewarding, I get so pumped when I see some action going down. Right on to both of you
Were getting some hardcore rain and wind... Well its dying down now, but fuck was today intense. I guess my rain dance worked... Tho hopefully it made it to the gardens of my krat homies thousands of miles away

Hello, I have a few questions about growing kratom as I am very interested in it. Firstly, could the shipping time be extended by keeping them moist, like they do with a lot of tropical fruit seeds that don't last long?
Also, how much variety is there in the seeds? Will they be likely to remain like the same strain, or can it vary a lot? I know with other plants it can vary a lot, so I was wondering.
Greetings

Instead of sterilizing try pasteurizing it.
Sterelizing the media will make it easily susceptible to that unless you work and have the media in a completely sterile area.
Whereas pasteurizing it will keep some beneficial bacteria alive which could fight of cobweb germinating etc. Learned this from growing mushrooms, but i guess the idea still works in other fields

True, but there's no grain in my soil for spores to germinate and I know from experience it's a hassle to stand there for an hour with your meat thermometer. I just pop my pots in the microwave for 3 mins on high and it does the job fine, with cacti at least. The pots stay in ziploc bags or mini greenhouses too so they aren't too exposed to contams.

I'm interested in this too, has anyone sent a cutting overseas or know a way to make a cutting survive the trip? Maybe an unrooted cutting packaged with the branch in some of those water beads?

These seeds and sprouts are incredably tiny. When I got my seeds in the mail, I wasn't sure which part was actually the seed. Its smaller than what I thought.
Edit: also what sorta lighting do you recommend for the sprouts

Yeah it's hard to believe those huge trees come from such tiny sprouts. Mitragyna Parvifolia seeds are even smaller, about 5x smaller.
For lighting, I had mines under a 400w full spectrum LED since the beginning, but on the outskirts of the light coverage. Some > one month old seedlings are now right under the light and it didn't hurt a thing, they seem to love it. So I say go for the brightest place you can give em.
Make sure to give them plenty of humidity and heat at the beginning, keep them in a ziploc bag on a heatmat if you have one.

They don't germinate on grain only lol, mold germinates on many different types of medium like soil (depending on the type of mold).
Whatever floats your boat buddy

Well sorry if that came out wrong man, I wasn't rejecting your advice. I totally agree with you that pasteurizing would be better, I'm just too lazy to do it often. Hell, I got these jars that have been sitting for more than two weeks just because I'm to lazy to cook-up some bulk.

I just work by observation, I haven't had any cobweb or algae on the pots I microwaved over a month ago, definitely had them in the ones I didn't microwave, which still had the beneficials.
