Hey Thumb, no worries dude. Spring is almost here and all of your problems will be solved when your plants go outside. The stems will be straight and strong, and the fungus gnats will probably be gone. Winter just sucks for Kratom, and anybody that has maintained any kind of growth the past few months is way ahead of the game for the spring. You're biggest challenge will then be trying to keep them watered. I recommend getting a kiddie swimming pool from the dollar store, and putting your plants in several inches of water when you need to leave town. You're all gonna repot your plants several times this summer, it will become a labor of love, HaHa.

Thanks! Fortunately I caught it before they were on my leaves. I'm going to repot anyway so hopefully that gets rid of some larvae. As for well draining soil: the perlite I put in my fox farms soil keeps growing algae! How do I combat that?

I live in South Eastern Coast so its never winter down here the coldest it got down here was like 55-60 f and that was only for a couple days and the first plant I ever got is pretty much growing horizontally, the other younger ones are now starting to bow I dont get it.
Its frustrating...
I guess Im going to have to start tieing them up.
I was just hopeing someone else would have an easier and cheap way to combat this.
Plazmotech
Im not positive what to do for the algae because I havent yet encountered this issue but I assume that some good air flow in the room would help this.
What color pot/growing container are you using?
Try and stay away from white, Ive noticed algae grows a lot where white containers are used.

My biggest tree is poppin. Managed to keep leafs on it all winter and even grew. Going to be a great year. I reckon it'll be 15ft+ very bushy with a baseball bat sized trunk. If I don't take an excessive amount of clones. Welcome to the jungle.

Glad to hear y'all are weathering the winter alright... Minus a few plants. I'm really happy I moved in some stuff and kept all the clones inside. A few large CFLs did me right. In the next few weeks.... Close to April... I'll be moving a lot of stuff into my green house with a lot of transplants well said jizzmaster, "a labor of love." And no joke about the struggle of keeping up w watering in the warm months lol
Here's my indoor stuff. Outdoor is mostly skeletons and not worth looking at. Moved my mama Thai outside as she Was the source of the gnats I was fighting. Even w a repot and literally spraying all the soil off the roots w water to the bare roots and into fresh soil! Its like they say, just because the rotting apples have been discarded doesn't mean the fruit flies are gone yet... Same w gnats. They really try and come back hard! I got mad fans though, serious wet dry cycle, and all trash, fruit/food covered or bagged up tight, and all close drains treated w baking soda, then vinegar and finally boiling hot water... Hint hint, gnats like to chill in the slime of neighboring drains its my believe there may be a few buzzing around who are trying to hit my garden again...but they aren't getting too far at all. But w the mama Thai, she was in a larger pot, that stayed wet longer than anything else in the garden (indo)... Even with the fan blowing directly over the soil, I saw them aggressively trying to get into the soil. It was an alarming sight!!!! fuck that noise! I moved her outside and she ain't looking too hot at all. Luckily for me, I got a few branches to root
Anyway, on to the pictures

Here's the puny Thai yoot that will hopefully carry on the good name...

Close up of a Thai clone not yet showing roots but I'm pretty sure she's there

Use Neem cake, trust me you wont regret it, Neem cake it a mild slow release fertilizer on top of the fact that it kills the larvae.

So it's not just a source of neem for insecticide purposes? It can actually feed them as well? Sweet, I'll look into some, thx. I use neem oil here and there in the garden. Usually with sandlewood, rosemary, orange and cinnamon to go with it... Sometimes a few others. Been meaning to pick up some thyme to add to the mix

New set of leaves looks ok and not so curled.

Glad to hear she bounced back Arg
I'm getting ready to start doing some transplants and move some stuff outback. Late March/April has always been the cherry time of the year for us though theres a part of me that always yearns for poppies around this time of the year... As April was always harvest tiempo but no more morphine for old lipa. That's one plant that's off limits for me
On a side note, sorry to anyone I lost touch w recently. Been getting my ass kicked with health issues lately as well as my cat. Just wanted to pop in to say sorry and no disrespect
Peace and love y'all

Yesterday was that glorious day that most of my plants, and all of my kratom, got moved outside! I was excited because rain was coming which would be a great start to the spring, but my plants got hailed on last night! There was surprisingly little damage, other than unhealthy leaves getting knocked off that were probably going to drop soon anyway. Once they start growing I'll post some pictures, and I'll post my cloning method too once they are ready.

Whoa jizz that's wild! glad to hear theyre good tho call it the luck of the krat. I once had a tree, big tree, fall into the back yard where I had all my krat, trichs and whatever else... And long story Short, I didn't lose one plant. They all perfectly fit between each limb and branch. It was a krat miracle my friends!

Hello everyone and thanks for everything I learned reading this thread.
I'm a brand new grower of this wonderful plant. I looked everywhere for cuttings but they were unavailable to me so I resorted to starting from seeds.
I ordered 100 seed pods of Rifat about 2 weeks ago and sowed the equivalent of about 25, they were kept in mini greenhouses under a 400w LED, germination started in about a week and now I have a whole lot of little mitragyna seedlings.
Seems to me the legend about kratom seeds not being viable for long is just that, a legend. Germination rate is actually pretty good.
Here are some of the babies:

To those of you who have experience with seedlings, how long do you think they'll take to put out a couple nodes of real leaf?
