I used the soil of my garden. It's very rich. I water every three days now. I don't let it dry. It is placed as close as possible to the lights.
I think I'm gonna put it outdoors next spring.

Thought I'd finally chime in and add some pictures of a few of my plants, here's a couple after being sprayed down in the shower - the other of some clones. Almost impossible to distinguish the two from each other, one in the white container is a Rifat and the one right next to/below it is Bumblebee. The one by itself is Rifat as well.

Incredibly prolific Growers, they're under a 300 to 450 Watt MH currently, the Clones are under T8 fluorescent light. The large ones were planted on 9/10. So they're just over two months old, they are heavily pruned to keep them as small bushes otherwise they'd be much taller.

Hopefully we can change the DEAs mind, I wonder if the plant would remain legal or not I would hate to have to get rid of mine.

http://www.kratomcomments.org/ please make sure to leave a well-written articulate comment for the DEA!

Man kratom just doesn't like me as much as I like it. My new little baby rifat is going downhill too. The burnt edges were there when I got it. Kind of looks like overnutrition from what I've read. I've changed all the soil except for what's in the rootball and it hasn't progressed. But I'm not so worried about that as the curling of the leaf in front. That's new and I am at a loss at this point. Possible adjusting? Lamp too close? Overwatered? Lack of humidity? I've got it indoors and I thought the consistency would help as my other plant was just starting the thrive in full sun but so far no luck for either indoors

Why would you have to get rid of your plants? I dont even think most people can tell what it is. I ask people at work sometimes "hey you know what kratom is?"

No one ive asked at work knows what it is. I guess its a big city thing.

Lovely plants by the way.

That might be the problem. Ive noticed with rooting clones and the youngins that if placed too close to the lights, it can pull a lot of energy from the leaves and they can get yellow and red, sometimes with burnt edges... Eventually just falling off. And that's w CFL bulbs. What type of lighting are you using?

Krat can be weird about lighting when its not super developed. Sometimes they can get cooked or just straight up stall out for a while. Rich soil? How is the drainage in it? Krat likes a soil w good drainage ;-) the fact that it bounced back like that is a good sign that the plant has got some muscle.

Does your soi! Have time released nutrient balls by any chance? You see this a lot in corporate big name brands like miracle grow. These are bad news as with a really thirsty plant like kratom, and often pot, the frequent waterings causes the little balls to break open more than they are suppose to and that results in a constant burning and usually killing off of plants.

From the pic, it looks like you're soil has a lot of perlite in it, so its prob got good drainage right?

What is the lighting schedule and HOW CLOSE are they to the lights? I see you have an LED lamp... What is the wattage?

When I received my first clone in the mail several Years ago, it came with a little care instructional sheet... And honestly, its brief, but informative... This is some info it said... "If you are seeing burnt or cracked leaves, the plant may be receiving too much (light) exposure."

Its a cool sheet and if I can get a clear enough photo w my garbage camera I'll post it :super:

And dude, don't lose hope. That plant does not look that bad. If those leaves were burned when you got it, well that's that. The burnt leaves won't recover... But hopefully they'll grow healthy from there on... @ least that's the objective. But on the real, that plant does NOT look too far gone... Just a little beat up  keep the faith brother :super:

Also it could just be in shock still from being cloned, shipped, transplanted and settled in a new house with new growing conditions. They can go into a limbo of sorts when you first receive them... But I'll say it again, that plant does not look that bad

Peace and love :awesome:

Knock on wood! My red vein Thai is finally getting well again... Kind sucks its coinciding with the temp drop of fall/winter but I'm trying to make it work. Might've set up for a temp indoor set up soon... If anything just to get a few cuttings :super: really happy she's bouncing back though. Trying to think up a good name for this one... Leaning forward a girls name. maybe Rosa...

Anyways...

Here's a blurry (sorry) shot or two of what the cooler temps do to my plants... They're on the verge of dying off for sure.

The soil that came with it actually did have those and i can see a few left. You think those few would affect it still? It's in fox farm soil now except what was attached to the rootball. The drainage should be pretty decent i think. I usually get to water it about once a day and it keeps but doesn't soak.

No LED lamp. It's just a lights of america 17 watt fluorescent. I'd say it's about a foot and a half up maybe. I've just been keeping it on 24/7. I know it doesn't look horrible now but i've already had one die and i hate when they start heading that direction. I suppose it could be stress but i've had it a couple weeks now. The only thing on that list i haven't been doing is misting it.

Not super cold but cold enough to piss off my plants. I guess its been in the fifties and forties lately. Maybe even has dipped down into the upper thirties. And just lately too. We just got hit with cooler temps.

Yeah that's prob why it came burned. And maybe continues to be... I dunno for sure, but that shit is bad news. I'm surprised a kratom farmer was stupid enough to set up the soil with that, esp w a thirsty plant like kratom.

And second...you're at the other end of the spectrum with the lighting. Waaay too weak of a light man. Look into a floro w an output of closer to 100-150w. Then start off @ 8"-1' away... Then slowly get it a little closer. Yeah man 17w floro isn't going to do much for you with a plant like kratom. I like to use the larger spiral floro bulbs with the ten dollar clamp on fixtures one would get at the hardware store. Whole deal is twenty bucks.

Dammit, i've heard others say these lamps were surprisingly good for indoor grows. The problem for me is last time i got a t5 i realized i had to hardwire it into my house and i just have no way to do that. I need something that plugs into a standard socket.
