I commented on the article to just grow your own tree. Very unassuming plant. Not even the USDA knew what it was when they came to check my citrus tree. Told them it was guava.

Do these look properly cured?

They have a sweet banana smell to them. I want to make a tea with these.

I'll shoot you a picture of mine when I get home.
I just rinse and let mine air dry for a few day's and place them in a fold top sandwich bag.
They stay green and still taste great!!!
I then remove the Vien and crumble or I wet the dried leaf, fold, place in my gum and suck on the leaf like dip.
I get a very nice buzz from this.

Going to dip down to freezing Tues/Wed. I'll probably pick a few leafs tonight. Definitely gotta wrap the stumps in blankets. I'm going to put 1.5oz frost cloth over the smaller kratom trees, brugmansias, and novos. I'm going to bring a few novos inside. The rest will get coveted with cloth and be next to a heater.

Does the leaf in your lip not taste absolutely terrible? Or have you gotten used to the taste?

Yeah banana smell doesn't sound good to me, reminds me of bread mold. If you're gonna use those leaves maybe boil them in a tea just in case

Freshly fallen off the tree imo they have a completely different taste. Much better. Not as bitter.
The reason I wet them after I dry is basically to be able to mold them a bit and they not fall all apart when I put them in my mouth.
Honestly I think a fresh/dried leaf tastes way better than the powdered leaf. It is still semi bad tasting but if I can eat Mushroom's I can eat anything.
The pictured leaves are maybe 4 months old. They came Off some clones from the garden's of Pinedonia.
Oh! And I only chew these at night because they give a much better energetic kick than powder. Sometimes to much and I'll start sweating.

Shrooms aren't bad. If you can eat Dried then powdered and then rehydrated peyote mush, then you can eat anything.
Do you guys bother growing larger plants indoors over winter? Or do you just let them get kinda cold and go dormant?

I let mine go dormant. I think it will depend on if you get severe frosts or not, which I don't.
Yummy bitter alkaloids.

We get occasional severe frosts. I'm planning on bringing mine in. Debating if I should get another grow tent to throw them in.
I have two Kavas and a baby Iboga in shipping now that I'm considering overwintering so I may just get a big tent for all of them.

Wow Meangreen, that's some serious growth, my red Malays are only the size of the ones in your second pic & I showed those months ago, you have it mastered,
I reckon mine will take off now as the warmer weather is kicking off, I've found the Daun Jambu to be faster growing than my other mitras, this could just be because it's spring here & I showed the others during winter in my tent,
All my plants are powering along in the humidity of my greenhouse, just gets way too hot in there now , so I usually have to leave the greenhouse doors open, aw man I'm I glad winters fucked off here for a little bit, the constant struggle of keeping the tropicals alive during the cooler months is bloody challenging, I feel for you guys that are battling the cold temps,
