Thanks ferrel, it's a Malaysian strain which grows smaller leaves than usual but is said to be like twice as potent. Leaf size comparison by the farmer in Malaysia who the seeds came from, Red Malay on the left, Daun Jambu on the right:

I've got a few Bumblebee kratom seedlings popping up now, do I just keep them sealed in the humidity until they're too big for the bag?
Also MoonFarmer do you farm on the moon or do you farm moons?

I read about a "guava" strain that had very small leaves and was very potent. Is this the same do you think?

Yes that's the same, if you put "Daun Jambu" in google translate it will tell you it means "guava leaf" both in Malay and Indonesian.

Saw this guy soaking up some sun while I was taking cuttings on a bumble bee.
This is how I ship plant cuttings. Trim leafs, clonex dip, wrap stem in paper towel, wrap top 3/4 of paper and a little bit of stem with parafilm snugly but not so tight you damage the stems. Let the boutique soak in water then double bag them in plastic bags that are large enough to use as a humidity dome.

It's been rainy here so much he was digging some sun rays and bugs. I've seen more toads and frogs this year than I have since I was a kid in the early-mid 90's. All types of frogs. Lots of bugs too

Lots of rain and lots of bugs go hand in hand. Bugs suck. Pun intended.

So much rain. The plants have loved it.
Tomorrow I'm going to top dress them and that will be it until spring. Try to get a little more iron in their diet before leaf drop. I had one that was yellowing awhile back and corrected it but it really needs another dose before they go mostly dormant. One thing I noticed is plants that are chlorosis are less cold hardy.

So I got impatient yesterday (and am cutting down on getting high on anything "real"), ate the small quantity of dried trimmings I have from my small plants and then also some small leaves that were drying and one or two fresh trimmings.. Still all in all it seems to amount to 3-4 grams based on the 2-2.5 g of dried leaves I actually weighed. Spread over a long afternoon..
Wasn't enough for serious / helpful effects because it wasn't much and rather spread out over time but what I did feel had a very quick onset.
A warm comfy feeling it was, but I felt more out of it and got a headache and I was also a bit reminded of serotonin reuptake inhibitors how they tend to feel. Not SSRI's mind you (very different) but SRI's like dextromethorphan and tramadol. Warm, happy, intoxicating, but headache-y and potentially a bit feverish feeling in case of actual SRI's.
I wonder whether there may be extra actives in either freshly harvested kratom, maybe even only in undried kratom just like it is rumored to be with certain compounds in Salvia. Wouldn't be so weird cause it is known that mitragynine type compounds don't tend to be super stable right? With khat there is a similar issue about drying / extracting not working so well for cathinone.
Anyway my plants are doing okay although the season changes and they are not happy in my windowsill, just under lighting a bit warmer.
Man they drink quite a bit of water! But I also have a lot of ventilation in my grow unit so probably a lot of evaporation too.

I've quid some fresh leaf and it tasted awful. It was way more bitter and green than dried powder

It's an acquired taste for sure, I don't dislike it though. I actually enjoy the lasting bitterness of dry kratom though, I don't rinse my mouth on purpose after tossing & washing.
I agree that fresh seems more potent and more stimulating to me, I can feel a single good sized leaf that would probably dry to 0.3-0.4g whereas there's no way I'd feel the same amount dried. Maybe I'm wrong though never tried taking this little powder.
