I've read they were self fertile! Edit. Self compatible
Plus he rubbed the one bloom of the same tree to another. Or can you normally do that?
I'm just reading up on pollinating myself.

Actually the word I was looking for is self-compatible. Searching for "self-fertile" on google pulls up the wikipedia page for self-pollination, which is indeed a different mechanism (ie the lack of need for outside pollinators, vs the need for genetically different pollen for self-incompatible plants)
Self compatible and self fertile mean the same thing, however if you work in the industry or spend time with horticulturists you will hear "self fertile" used the majority of the time.

Could I grow it alongside ferns, anthuriums, and Psychotria carthagenensis plants in a south facing window?
No tents or humidity is needed. It's not too finicky.
It should grow fine among those plants.

So i bought these for my plants, mainly my kratom for when i am away at work. I think it should work well.

Anybody else got some type of automated watering system?

I have a drip line setup, but you have inspired me to include my Kratom trees into the system. I'll include some pics of my system soon as I make the addition.

Kozy: in your experience, how old does a kratom plant need to be to produce reasonably active leaves? is it just a matter of age, or is it the conditions and size, or..?
I got different varieties around the apartment being grown under artificial conditions mostly, and on my balcony which does not really work.. would like to know when to start saving foliage

I've been ingesting the leaves I lost on my Cutting's.
I get a reasonable feeling off a large leaf. Three or four will have me up all night.
They taste way better than the powder.
Day one with no top since I can monitor them today and tomorrow.
Also introducing sunlight. Any tips?
Edit. Sweet setup Ferrel!!! Let us know how it works!!!

I put my kratom in kiddie pools from Dollar General. Fill it up with water and set your kratom in it. As long as it’s hot outside and your plants are drinking, they will love it and you won’t have to worry about watering. The mosquitos will love it too, so you’ll need to drain it at some point. I never had to use the pools this year because it rained so much and my kratom were still suffering from the abuse I put them through last Fall so they weren’t as thirsty. They are drinking a lot now, but I’m not going to bother with the pools here at the end of the season. I’m glad to see that system works Ferrel. I may need a way to keep my khat and coca watered at some point.

Nah no kiddie pools. This system is pretty reliable. I gotta add my cacaos to it.

Ah nice setups then both hi tech and low tech under my weak artificial lighting i am not gonna be needing the tech although at some point i might wanna look into automatic irrigation just so i can go on vacation without asking people to look after all these wierd plants
I am interested in a kiddie pool but mostly to grow a big ass sheet of kombucha scoby
@ Snake eye: that's cool man! but how old are the plants you took the cuttings from? i gots seedlings not cuttingses

In my experience, plants as young as 4 months are of average potency, definitely potent enough that you'll feel it if you chew 2 or 3 leaves.
The kratom I harvested this winter from my 6-7 months seedlings is basically as potent as some low to average quality Indo kratom. I ran out for a couple of days and used only my own kratom and it kept the WDs away for sure, using the same dose as good indo kratom.
Micaele harvested almost all his 30 something seedlings he started in like March and it worked good from what he told me.
As my plants get older the main difference I see is the leaves are much thicker so probably a lot heavier as well, that could account for the subjective difference between chewing 1 leaf of a young plant and 1 leaf of an older one. Also, for what it's worth I tasted a leaf from the newest growth of one plant and it was the most bitter leaf I tasted by far, not sure if that's due to more alkaloids or something else that produces a bitter taste.

I will be finding out tonight. My last dose was this morning but the topic reminded me that I have 8.5 grams of BB I believe. It's from when I got my cuttings in the spring and it was the excess foliage.
I think the guy has had his 2 trees for maybe 2 years. But I do remember him saying he got them from a semi mature tree.
'USA' grown is 'supposedly' some of the weakest. Like I said we'll see with my night dose. I'm almost positive that all leaf has to be active.

Here's my best Rifat seedling, started in early April of last year. 108cm from the soil, and every new node seems to come out with 2 side branches now

The same plant back on May 26th:

And in February during a hard winter, it was one of the plants that was the least fussy about overwintering inside, unlike the one on the 2nd pic :'(

The leaves are amazing on that Rifat. Beautiful tree man
I got a few Rifat cuttings I'm rooting now.
I love the way the Rifat looks. A bit more pointy than the BB leaves I've noticed.
