found in North Wisconsin growing from the ground
12 cm tall, 5 cm across the cap
I'm making a spore print, but it looked so much like orange fly agaric that I hoped to get a positive ID from the images

Found this yesterday in MN, it's in about the same stage of development. I don't see the rings near the base on your specimen. Spore print won't help unless you put it under a microscope, it will only tell you amanita is amanita. I'm not saying it's not a guessowii, but it is possibly not guessowii. Don't eat, wait for TI.

What kind of trees were growing in the forest you picked it? If I had to take a stab I'd say frostiana, judging from the stalk, also I can see small striations in the second picture; however I'm by no means an expert and striations may be more visible after picking and aging. (If I'm wrong please let me know, I would like to learn as much about mycology as I can)

Dangerous advice, imo
Stevo is right. There's look alikes for guessowii. A. Flav. And A. Frost. To name the few I know, disregarding other variations to species that people don't take as much interest in as A. Musc. Var., for all we know there is a yellow variation of bisporgia...
Warts almost look yellow to me but that could be my display, your lighting, etc., if the warts are yellow it's alost definitely flavo. Or frost. (Although A. Frost. Is considered rare, I believe thus is attributed to people reporting A. Frost. as A. Flavo.; it may not be as rare as we think). Don't eat, wait for TI is my advice.

The reason for the lack of ornamentation on the annular zone is it is unbroken! I am pretty sure this is A. muscaria var. guessowii, but I must admit I don't know US varieties up close. A similar side profile of a mature specimen may banish reasonable doubt.
