Day two of a water fast

Hello,
I am in day 2 of a 5 day water fast, which I may push to 7 or 10 days, depending on how I feel. So far I feel pretty decent, I am hungry but it was worse yesterday. This is my first fast longer than 3 days, so I am anxious to see how I feel afterwards.
The reason for the fast is I quit drinking (was a daily heavy drinker) and smoking tobacco,( which I also used heavily and daily). I am making a major lifestye change, to pursue a healthier diet and less vices.
Anyone else ever done a seven day fast? I feel like I can go 5 more days, easy. I may go ten days depending on how my body is reacting.
Any advice?

What good can come out of fasting off of water? Alcohol dehydrates you anyway. I would imagine after 3 or 4 days you'll be dizzy and loopy...probably start hallucinating.
Just doesn't seem smart to me.

There is actually a ton of info about therapeutic fasting online about it being an excellent full body detox that cleans major organs, purges cells of toxins, and rejuvinates the mind and body. Fasting is super good for you if done correctly.

that's all well and good but if you are a heavy, daily drinker, it may not be good a idea to quit the booze cold and/or without sustenance. people die from alcohol detox if bad off

I was a heavy drinker but I only drank beer, however I would start drinking early and drink all day, and smoke about a pack of cigarettes during the course of the day.
I haven't ever had withdrawls from alcohol that were physical. I certainly have mental cravings but so far I feel fine, as far as nicotine and acohol cravings go, but I think they are being overshadowed by my hunger, haha.

Pretty much anthing that claims to "detox" you is bullshit. I'm not going to argue with you or read your links, it is just the truth.
Do you know what does all those things you listed? Your liver. Do you know what is bad for your organs? Starving.

I would get some good food into you OP. Water is great but as others have already said your body needs nutrients.

Why would you recommend laxatives?
That will just screw up your electrolyte balance, and dehydrate you more, not good advice.
I think if you're going to fast, then at least do a juice fast, or something where you get some good calories in your body.
I know I can't go longer than 12 hours without food, but I am very active, run/cycle/workout daily, so usually eat every 4 hours. I would die from a fast this long.
Anyway, congrats on your lifestyle change OP, I really hope everything works out for you.

Wouldn't work for myself, but I guess they might work for someone who isn't super active.

I heard fasting can be good for insulin resistance. I don't know about fasting for a long time, like multiple days. But whatever floats your boat, as long as you're a healthy individual, it can't be all that bad. Certainly not as bad as abusing drugs long term.
But yeah, anything that says toxins, or detox is pseudoscience. That's the liver's job, and mighty fine job it does.

The main fat burning part of your body is the liver. By reducing fat and toxin intake the liver can function better and focus more on extra cleaning. I prefer times were I am taking in less calories but still eat. It takes time to lose weight and you will lose weight taking in less calories. I have thrown up before expelling toxins from fasting. It takes psychological strength to fast. Hunger makes people ugly. Lot's of religions talk about fasting for strength. But please do eat some and take a vitamin. It's a long journey and you are only delusional to think there will be a sudden change. It could all go very wrong breaking a fast and come rushing back into old patterns and habits. Can come back a lot worse. Going without is always going to develope tools if you find peace.
