65 degrees too cold for colonization?

So I'll need to keep the jars in a basement (sounds like a bad idea, I know, but that's just how it is) and it's about 65 degrees fahrenheit. Is this too cold? Could I wrap them up in blankets to keep them warm? They would be cubes in half pint jars
-------------------- Alice asked the Cheshire Cat, who was sitting in a tree, “What road do I take?” The cat asked, “Where do you want to go?” “I don’t know,” Alice answered. “Then,” said the cat, “it really doesn’t matter, does it?”

65F is not optimal, but not terrible either. Your cultures will colonize a little slower at first then speed up when they have a large section colonized, because they will then begin producing enough of their own heat to keep temps about 75-80F inside the substrate.
One up-side is cooler temps tend to keep bacteria at bay.

dont do any of that.leave out in the open. like a book shelf or (my fav) a china hutch!
even colonizing jars need gas exchange and ambient light. do not bury in the basement like that dead hooker from last tuesday.. wait.. i said too much.

You might put them by the water heater or furnace to keep warm if that's a possibility.

dont mind me asking why?
dont be dishonest, we are committing felonies here so why not say why??
if the answer is 'because i need to hide it from people i live with' then how do you plan on fruiting?

The answer is indeed that I'm tryna hide it from people I live with. Fruiting? Yeah, that's the big problem. You see, I'm planning on fruiting them outdoors by burying the cakes with manure and water soaked straw. The upcoming cold temperatures make this a shaky plan, however. I'm hoping that global warming will help me out and it'll be warm enough.
This shows last year's november temps for my area.
My plan to colonize the jars in a dark, cool basement in time to fruit the cakes outdoors and get a harvest as the cold aproaches sounds pretty iffy. But I'm willing to try if I have a decent shot

If you're just looking to trip, don't risk fruiting outdo at this time and just eat the jars...they'll taste like shit but you'll still trip balls...unless there's verm or some other non-edible substrate in them.

It is highly active if they are grains then juice extraction is easy. Cakes just fuck everything up. Like temps. My basement is probaby 45 degrees right not. In the summer it stays 52 degrees. The jars down there still live and grow slowly but live. Try top fruiting with a sandwhich bags.

Another idea is brew so wine with high sugars content in 5 gallon pales. The heat form that with blankest around then can push it up 10 degrees and achol to drink later. Win win

Hey Ted, not stupid at all. I used to grow nothing but rye jars in order to eat and share with my friends when I couldn't fruit them out due to living at my mom's house. I've seen 20 people tripping balls on a couple quart jars. I had a guy tell me that the jars were bullshit, so I let him eat 1/4 pint and was told the next day by his brother never to give him drugs again. None of this is exaggeration. Just didn't want you to risk losing your jars if that's all ya got. Also, top fruiting as mentioned above could prolly be done pretty incognito.
