Proper temp and heating techniques.
    #2368820 - 02/22/04 07:29 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Hi all,

I have read alot of conflicting info regarding the proper tempertature for terrariums. Some say low 70s other mid 80s. So what the opinions on that and what the best heating method is. I have built a killer automated ultrasonic terrarium which I will make a tek on soon.

Alan

Mushrooms like to be cool when they grow. So, room temperature would be good, Ivan has his in a room with all the heating vents closed and a very slight cracked window. Room probably drops to about 55-60 during the night. You don't need to heat the terrarium at all. Mycelium, on the other hand, enjoys heat and spreads the best at about 85 degrees.

Peace

Room temp is usually OK, unless you live like an Arab or Eskimo.
74-76F if you feel like taking control.

Beats me? You could prolly rig something with a little creative engineering. I do everything at room temp, myself.

Why don't you check your ambient temp in your designated fruiting zone first and see if you need to worry about it at all.

I think they will grow well in those conditions. Only way to find out is trial and error. I would try it first, i'm sure you'll be okay.
