Monotub depth of 1.5 inches. Too shallow?D:
    #23688136 - 09/28/16 07:39 PM (7 years, 4 months ago)

I just read that standard monotub depth is 4 in. I have a monotub with substrate depth at 1.5 in and another at 2.5 in. Am I going to fail my first mono or is there still hope? What kind of problems will I face.. Small shrooms? Substrate drying out?
Has anyone had experience with this kind of sistuation?
I appreciate any input thanks!

It may dry out faster than you want it to.
I used to make them about that thickness when I was doing PF to bulk.
It works. It just isn't the best.

Depends on how big your trays or tubs are if you have a small grow then that is ok but normally you want a bigger sub

Okay so it's not a total loss..
The 2.5 in depth one is 14x14 in and the 1.5 in is 8.5x12 . Do you guys gthink it's small enough?
Should I pour some water in there after first flush or?

We measure tubs by qts or liters not length but just leave it be worse case is you mist more and have short shrooms

No the larger tub is about at 1.5 inch. The smaller tub is at 2 inches if you can see from the photo. It looks ugly cut I haven't trimmed the bag yet but I have two different strains in that same tub.

Wait are you talking about 10 qts spawn? Because that tray in the picture is 16 qt b has 2qt spawn +5 qt sub =7qt total

You need to trim up those garbage bags with an exacto knife and try and cover the whole thing instead of putting tinfoil directly on top like that

Yeah I was going to trim it once I have to case. Should I trim it now instead? Also i did cover the whole thing I just uncovered it to take pic. Why do other people put foil on it? Is the foil actually not necessary?
