Mycolorado said: Hey Ted, not stupid at all. I used to grow nothing but rye jars in order to eat and share with my friends when I couldn't fruit them out due to living at my mom's house. I've seen 20 people tripping balls on a couple quart jars. I had a guy tell me that the jars were bullshit, so I let him eat 1/4 pint and was told the next day by his brother never to give him drugs again. None of this is exaggeration. Just didn't want you to risk losing your jars if that's all ya got. Also, top fruiting as mentioned above could prolly be done pretty incognito.
The dude was probably allergic to your grain a 1/4 of a pint? No way it was either super bacterial and he got sick as fuck or somehow the lsd fairy zapped him ...

1. That's not some old guy, it's Tommy Lee fucking Jones.
2. I don't just spray shit and make claims to feel good on the board.
3. It's pretty well known that mycelium is just as active as fruit bodies.
Clone up a strong strain and put it on rye, let consolidate and try some. Then come tell us how it is noobz.

You can't have been growing very long if you're saying that... An old scratched up mono can harbor some shit in it that will fuck anything you grow in it. Eventually there comes a time to replace them.

OP, can't you just fruit those top secret cakes in your sleeping quarters?
I think the spawn run is more fun than the actual fruiting session myself. It is like you have the whole world in your hands. Nothing like eating those fresh shroomies though. It is worth making a SGFC fo sho.

GLOBAL WARMING ISN'T REAL!!!
I wouldn't bank on it warming up your geographic area lololol....
Why don't you just get some stone producers...nocc up some grain and leave em like that, no fruiting required! 4-6 months later you have a beautiful collection of active stones...

Thanks for not hating. Yeah I'm not really trying to grow mycelium just to eat it. Although now I am curious to knownif it works. Also, what's "top fruiting"? I guess I'll do some research on that.

I think I might end up fruiting one or two cakes in poor man's terrarium in my living quarters and burying the rest outside
