Is this Chicken of the Woods? North west England
    #23686635 - 09/28/16 01:14 PM (7 years, 4 months ago)

Hi, not really a mushroom type but hoping to get into them at some point.

My neighbour cut this off a lime tree in a local park. He cut me off about 1/4. Swears blind it's chicken of the woods.

He gave it in return for some horses hoof fungus I gave him. (For use as tinder as he's into bushcraft)

Habitat:
North west England, park in the suburbs, reportedly on a lime tree.

Gills:
Underside of each 'branch' is smooth, slightly yellow/ochre

Stem:
Solid, white inside slightly yellow outside, tears and looks like cooked chicken breast meat.

Cap:
From a few inches wide to about a foot. Wood shaving like texture on top. Top edge dark brown

Spore print color:
N/a

Bruising:
Underside of caps goes darker. Where it was cut from the tree its gone grey/black

Cheers Joie.
I popped round and told him what he'd found.
