Stone producers on agar question

sorry if this has been asked and answered before but i've spent a couple hours over the last couple days looking for a post/thread with this answer and haven't found it. i really don't have the patience to keep looking.
anyways, my questions:
how do i differentiate between contams and desirable myc growth on agar for stone producers (tamps, jalisco, galindoi, ect), considering its normal, nay... favorable for stone producers to have non-white colored growth on agar? in my (extremely limited) experience; if its white, it's alright!
what colored growth should i transfer, and what colors do i not want to transfer?
I have heard that white myc growth is actually NOT a good candidate for growing stones on grains, as opposed to cube growth which we all know is ideally white and rhizomorphic. supposedly, neither of those traits are desirable for stone producers though? if anyone have experience trying to grow white rhizomorphic growing sclerotia producers on grains, please weigh in here.

It's not a cube. OP, buy The Mushroom Cultivator. It has photographs of what you're looking for

Ooo I'd love to hear an answer. I'm very curious about growing sclerotia producers I'd love to see a successful sclerotia agar plate.

I thought it was to help the mycelium stand out and thus identify what isnt mycelium?

no pours are harder to see through the plastic and you cant put them up against light to see right through the agar/myc either so you can use dark food coloring as contrast.
I dont think I've seen anyone color the agar for proper petris.

Ah. I see. I tried no pour once. Too bulky and many of the containers tilted and got vacuumed.

tilted agar doesnt bother me much, I use spores and not syringes so they stay where I want them to on the plate. vacuums shouldn't happen if you have a filtered hole in your plates.

shipping's what makes me choose no pour over petris. even a 500 carton the shipping costs more than the petris does. *i wanna be americano, americano...but was born in Italy...*

Youll know, if you have used synthetic filters or tyvek, give it a wiff, should smell mushroomy or grainy, sweet and sour, toss out. As for coloration, its pretty obvious.

I did no-pour for a while but it irritated the fuck out of me because I could only do like 10 plates, and the mini rounds weren't locally available so I had to order them, and then they're like impossible to see through. Pouring 50 petris is less of a hassle than doing 8 no pour plates. I was using food coloring for a while to help spot bacteria but now my eyes are trained better and I don't need it.
As for the OP, once you get a good grasp of the macroscopic differences between mold and mushroom mycelium, differentiating stone producer myc and mushroom myc from mold is easy. Mold will always sporulate on the plate.
