Mycelium ate through tinfoil trays!
    #23685521 - 09/28/16 06:22 AM (7 years, 4 months ago)

I was growing Pan. cyans. On cow shit and hay with a coco coir casing layer in tinfoil trays with plastic shotgun top. I got a decent yield off of them until trich swept through and fucked everything up... When I went to toss them I happened to notice holes all over the bottom! I didn't make any of them check this out!

Anyone ever see anything like this??

Yeah that's common knowledge and why plastic trays are used

no it doesnt.

metabolites excreted by mycelium when colonizing subs is what eats through alu foil.

fully colonized cakes sit just fine on alu foil without burning through them.

Ive cooked straight coir in trays and trays have holes just like that. Metal trays don't hold up well

I dont believe you. coir does not excrete acidic metabolites like colonizing mycelium does. simply does not work that way.

I've never seen it! Pretty cool Is this with all species of fungi? I highly doubt the coir was responsible I only used a small casing layer

I noticed this on my first grow. I did un linned aluminum trays in a shotgun chamber. after I was done I thought I'd re-use my trays. Nope! After 4 flushes the bottom was littered with holes. It is amazing how fast Mycelium can clean up!
