First time drilling a hole and using mp tape on slants. All my other slants have parafilm. I just figured it would be easier not having to unwrap and wrap them whenever I use em.

After they're fully colonized you should screw the lid on tight. They don't need gas exchange and closing them up tight will keep them from drying out. Just need gas exchange while it's colonizing.

What you did definitely won't hurt anything, but they'll last for longer screwed up tight because they won't dry out as fast. The old test tubes I bought will still eventually dry out because the kids don't form a perfect seal, but the new ones I bought are airtight and should last a long time. I'm planning on transferring all my slants pretty soon and when I do I'll probably buy some new caps for my old tubes.

So after they are colonized should I tape the holes off completely?

I wouldn't worry about it. Just use them before they dry out or transfer to new ones when you get around to it. It'll still take a good while for those to dry out.

Yea I only slanted them so I could have time to test out each clone. I've got 4 clone cultures on grains right now to test out. I've went through so many fkn agar plates lately it's crazy.

These are simply the best, and pretty cheap.
I like the price but they look tiny. Is the picture just deceiving?

20x150 will fit in qt. jars with filter lids. I got 25x200 and had to improvise. I'd say this size is pretty ideal. Unless you like those fat assed cultubes like fk had. I kinda liked 'em. But I prefer borosilicate tubes.

The fat tubes were nice I could see it being practical for transfers, But can a hobby grade exacto fit down 20 mm and be effective? Probably need a #7 with #11s for that

Your second flush will almost always have fewer, but thicker, meatier fruits. Less competition overall so the remaining mushrooms can absorb more water and nutrients than before.

Two bacterial 66 that didn't do so great!
