Kratom advice

So I just received two rooted cuttings of kratom last week. I'd like to give them both some extra nitrogen before winter hits. Would coffee grounds be sufficient? I read it likes a hummus rich soil, so I assume it prefers slightly acidic? Think coffee grounds might have too low of a pH?

I don´t know about pure coffee grounds - but they are included in the BROWN materials added to garden compost.

Okay, I guess I'll look for some more balanced organic fertilizer.
My Rifat clone isn't looking too good. It has reddish/brown spots on the leaves and isn't growing out like my Bumblebee.
Here's the Bumblebee:

And here's the Rifat:

Any idea what is causing the discoloration? Could it be nutrients deficiency? Or perhaps something pathogenic like bacteria or fungus?
It's getting bright indirect light, and I water heavily at least every other day. It's not consuming water like the Bumblebee is, which makes me suspect the roots are having trouble.

Give it time. Sometimes they get that type of discoloration. Be very careful with fertilizing it, esp if it's the first feeding. Krat isnt a heavy feeder. Its really easy to burn em. I never used coffee grounds, so I couldnt say. I use s liquid organic mix... Earth Juice. You may want to wait until of starts asking for food first before going and applying something. Just out of curiosity, how low are your temps right now? Heads up... Not sure if your bumblebee has seen a cold season or not... But krat will die off in the cold weather. It'll come back though, so no worries. Assuming of course its pretty comfy and somewhat developed. It can handle a shitty CFL lamp and a fan indoors though to hold it over

It might just be shock. Did you gradually introduce it to sunlight or just throw it in the deep end? My moneys on that clone being rooted indoor and never seeing sunlight. To strong a light during the rooting process is too harsh for krat. They need artificial and to be somewhat far away from the bulb.. Well more so than what other plants Can handle during the rooting process

Well the rifat cutting came with the spots on the leave so it's something that happened before shipping or while in transit.
Thanks Ferrel, I may give them both some light amounts of it.

It likely happened from the cloning process then. I've seen discoloration like that from propagation, and the worst that happens is the leaves affected just fall off.

HG leaf is some of the best I've ever had. My bumblebee numbs my tongue and mouth a little when I take it. My only beef is not having the land and space to grow em huge ;wink: and thats my shortcoming not the trees
