Habitat:
Where does it grow  leaf litter hardwood forest North Wisconsin


Gills:
free see images

Stem:
fibrous, bulbous, 1 cm diameter, 5 cm long

Cap:
3 cm, purple, convex


Spore print color:
brownish, possible purple tint

Bruising: not evident

It's a cortinarius, but I can't find the species for the life of me. Pretty sure it's the one on the top right corner of the below page. Maybe collinitus. Does it have a strong odor?

smell was pleasant- problem was I was in the field looking at a large variety of fall mushrooms and taking a sniff of each- I can't exactly remember this one- I think it was fruity.

One of several of the purple Cortinarius in your area.  Was it sticky/tacky or slimy when you handled it?
