Truffles Expansion

Hi there, I've glass quarts of alt ready to expand and I had it in my mind to make large mycobags from these quarts. Some things I've read have me questioning the best approach to this. While using G2G am I better off with keeping them in glass quarts as opposed to large mycobags kept flat? Also, would I be at a disadvantage to use plastic p5 quarts? I have this dream to have large mycobags that can age for +1yr. Thank you for your insight.

Stones can go bad if they're not harvested. There's no reason to age them a year.

Thank you for the quick reply. Considering the legend that they increase in potency with age. What would be the longest truffle consolidation acceptable?
My quarts are at 8wks from being noc'd and are only just starting to develop stones. By Winter Solstice, they should be ready. Lol, I really thought they kept indefinitely while in their mycelial matrix.

Although I'm just starting my stones, mexicana A and Galindoi, I've seen RR mention he's had stones up to 8 months in a jar with no degradation. From everywhere I've searched, I haven't found any going a year or longer without decomposition. Might be a matter of tweaking the grain, moisture content in the long term, or some other variable. Would be interesting to experiment.

6-8weeks is RRs general consensus. Idk I want to avoid rancid Stones.

The difference in weight between month 5 and mother 6 is astronomical though....

I can see the potential fun that can be had attempting to maintain stones past thier normal prime.
Has anyone determined yield efficacy of using a mycobag or plastic container vs. glass? I was hoping to employ bags and or plastic but don't yet know if there's a significant loss on formation.

I dunno but I'm expanding my tampanensis culture right now and I'm going to do a couple bags. One will be spawned and the other will be left to produce stones. I'm hoping this culture fruits as prolifically on bulk substrate as it did on agar, and since the culture originally came from a stone I'm hoping it will do well on that front as well. On a side note, one time I spawned some galindoi and it never fruited but the one jar I spawned produced over twice as many stones in the tub as the other two jars combined.

Let it grow! Let it grow! Greatly yield! What shall we say, shall we call it by a name As well to count the angels dancing on a pin Water bright as the sky from which it came And the name is on the earth that takes it in DOG FOOD AGAR MY ELECTRIC INOCULATION LOOP
