Straight verm casing?

What are your thoughts on casing a monotub with straight verm? Does it work well and do I need to pasteurize it (I doubt it as it does not have any nutritional value)?

I might be wrong but I read ( if i recall correctly ) RR said its not nutritious but it has minerals cubes like. Might be outdated, probably not the answer you're looking for.
Sorry but I just have to mention that I feel like I said something from the movie idiocracy. It's got electrolytes. Lol

Coir is pretty nutritious man, and i think its ok to use as a late casing but casing early could result in a fully colonized casing layer that isnt fully allowing the substrate to breath.

btw I only mentioned verm not being nutritional because I wondered if I needed to pasteruize it.

I'm not talking about coir, I'm talking about casing using only verm.

It's fine, it's not the best, but you should probably do some kind of heat treatment on it anyway since you don't really know for sure where all it's been.

Like pasteurization or sterilization?

I mean, I guess. It's verm so, it doesn't really matter if you bake it or pasteurize it or sterilize it or microwave it or whatever, I'm sure most forms of heat will have the same effect. I've used it straight from the bag but, if you want to not worry at all, a little effort goes a long way.

Ok then, thanks.
Think I'll just PC some verm for an hour or so.

Verm is easy to heat treat. Just toss some on a cookie sheet and bake for 10 min at 450. Done.
