Help me out, I haven't picked up a guitar in 5 years,but I'm buying one in a couple of weeks.
Is Cakewalk's guitar tracks pretty good?
Any comments or suggestions appreciated.

I have no idea as to every rec application out there but I have had great luck w/ Cakewalk Guitar Tracks. I have a Digitech GNX-3 that I record my multi tracks on. It records to a SmartMedia card. I can then take the card out of the GNX3, put it into my computer, & upload the tracks into Cakewalk for any editing. Then I just transfer all the tracks to an MP3 and burn. Works great!

Buy komplete elements it's like 20 something dollars or I think you can actually get a free version that has pretty much everything the 20 something dollar one does it's the komplete player link is at the bottom. I got my copy for free with a midi keyboard but anyways it has guitar Rig Great amp emulation with it, and it's perfect for an amp
Or effects for guitar to me, I play a lil bass and make HipHop beats so I use guitar rig live effects with my bass plugged in my audio interface direct. Can't go wrong with it and their stock instruments are HQ sounding like any Kind of band instruments or orchestra a million other things your can buy and add on to it but it comes with a good amount of free stock sounds, and it has pretty good drums abbey road for live music if you like drum programming. Guitar Rig is your best bet I would think unless your gonna buy some outboard gear pedals Etc.
