2016 Psilocybe quebecensis * 2
    #23676269 - 09/25/16 10:16 AM (7 years, 4 months ago)

It's that time of year again, these guys usually show themselves before the liberty caps, so lets just get things rolling with a few pictures.
Sorry about the shitty pics, I will upload better when I figure out how to use this new F'ing camera.

Just behind that single pallet about 1 foot in the bush is the habitat.

The first pins of the year.

DAY #1

DAY #2

DAY #3

DAY#4

DAY #5

DAY #6

DAY #8
A few more pics for today, running out of space.....lol. There has not been much to update the last couple days anyway, progress is slow as it has been quite mild the past few days but still noticing a few new pins here and there.
Slugs and snails also had a feast on a few.....

First harvested.

Rhizo shot.

Pretty much the same as the Liberty caps, until the temps are consistently sub-zero or too much snow.

Video update today, noticed at least 10 new ones. Also forgot to edit out the first bit of the video, which are Liberty caps.

Thanks for letting us see this species. Looking forward to updates. P.quebecensis looks potent judging from the bluing on the cap in the photo.

DAY #6 updated
It was a busy day yesterday but I managed to get a couple shots at dusk.
It was a hard day for the little guys as we had temperatures above 20 celsius and much of the same for today.
I misted them several times with rain water out of the fridge yesterday and will do the same today.
A few started to dry out and there was a couple dead soldiers from the slugs and snails which absolutely love these shrooms so I will see what kind of print I can collect from those.

Hard to say, the patch in this post is in a different spot from years past but it might have well been fruiting then but just hadn't discovered them yet.
I have a couple projects on the go now, trying to establish some new beds outside in tubs and now that I own this place I will be able to better establish the current patches.
If I can establish a couple portable outdoor tubs, hopefully I will be able to add at least an extra month on to the season as I have a large sun porch which is not winterized where i will be able to keep my tubs over the winter and hopefully extend the season somewhat!!
This project here was kind of an accident, I went to pick the larger mushroom to the right and a fair piece of mycelium come up with him as well as the little guy on the left so I just top dressed my rosemary plant with wood chips and some grass seed from around the property and stuck them in the pot.
DAY #1

DAY #4

Unfortunately I went golfing yesterday and ended up getting shit faced and didn't make it home until this afternoon, I was't around to mist them and they dried up a little as we have had 5 days in a row of +20 degrees celsius and sun!

Good! And I can't believe I didn't look at this thread earlier. Great stuff. I once lived in Nova Scotia for a little less than a year. Of course I didn't know Psilocybes grew there, but I loved foraging for blueberries, rasberries, blackberries and rose petals.

I put together this fish tote about 2 1/2 weeks ago now.
The base consists of a fish compost, leftover from my garden. Then I threw a bunch of sawdust and wood chips from the general area the Ps. quebecensis grow and mixed in some torn up jiffy pots (wood pulp) and top dressed with some eel grass.
It has been in my small sheet metal wood shed covered with a clear garbage bag with the door open and misted daily.
We got some rain last night so I put the tote out on the lawn with the cover off to get some rain and it was still pissing down this morning so I went out to put it back in the shed and..........
