Noobie worried and needs help
    #23676177 - 09/25/16 09:41 AM (7 years, 6 months ago)

Brand new to growing and concerned about how this first flush is acting..I think it started out well but now it seems to me as if only one fruitbody is continuing to grow right in the center of the cased tray...wondering if maybe the substrate is too dry, if so , is there a way to directly hydrate it? Gonna try to figure out how to post a pic in hopes it might be helpful. Any advice is appreciated.
Note: This tray has been in fruiting conditions for about 8 days. The largest fruit body in the center measures 1.2 inches.

Misting and fanning several times a day. Entire tek done by the book. Not sure what could  be wrong with the substrate. I mist the walls and top of the chamber. Is it ok to directly mist the tray itself?

Yeah, that was a point of confusion for me..In the tek I saw the guy drilling in the bottom of the chamber and I couldn't figure out how he kept the perlite from coming out so I didn't do it. I did go easy on the holes because I was worried about contaminations and thought that fanning often would be a sufficient supplement.

Ok, Youtube tek videos aren't always totally comprehensive and often leave unanswered questions. I came here to get some advice and insight because I just picked up this hobby and I'm interested in growing cubes and some regular edibles. You seem to be unable to give advice without being rude and condescending, so I guess Shroomery is just the wrong place for me to be. Thanks anyway jerkoff.

Mrmazdarx9 enters the room...lol

He's not being a jerk or whatever your claiming to have "done it by the book" or some shit but nothing you are doing is correct.
Your fruiting chamber is wrong yes you drill the bottom perlite won't fall out of 1/4" holes
Why do you think spraying the walls is right would that satisfy your thirst if I threw your drink on the wall?
You may be following a tek but the wrong one or at least a very outdated one

please do not use youtube as a learning source.
its entertainment...cooking and cat videos are cool too.

the shroomery is a place to go to school/be taken to school.

my best teachers never held my hand. they showed me the door
but i needed to open it.

sometimes we dont like being told we are doing things wrong.
and mushrooms seem to make people take things extremely personally.
people are trying to help. dont be a winnie

drilled holes in bottom and more on sides..recharging drill to do the top. Huge numbers of pins on the edges of the substrate..now, rub my shoulders and tell me if I should take it out of the tray and put it on foil.

You can't imagine how many beginners come here everyday with similar problems that they could have solved just by using the search engine or reading the stickies.  When you try to help each one of them, you face the same problems again and again. If you want to help everyone, you gotta leave being polite aside be straightforward like he did with you. So, don't get mad, we're all just trying to help you here .)

I would take out that substrate and let it fruit freely if it has side pins.

Build a SGFC to spec. You can mist or "bottom water" to help hydrate the substrate. Bottom watering involves pouring a bit of water down the side of the sub, let it sit there for 12-24 hours and carefully pour off any excess that has not be sucked up by the myc. You got pins and fruits it's far from gone just tweak a few things and follow a real tek. People are giving you solid advice. Expect to be called out on inaccuracies. If they are being helpful best to consider the advice, you feelings are irrelevant if the advice is genuine which is the case here. Read the link below regarding SGFC's follow the tek without deviation for best results.

:cheersyoufuck:

id leave in the tray. taking it out and blahblah is too much
human interference if you catch my drift. i like to spawn and fruit
and leave alone. only misting and giving plenty of FAE. fucking
with things always jacks it up for me.

You could also search for people who have done successful tray grows and see how they did it.

first grows in trays in a tub.

far from 100% successful never got massive canopies or monster fruits
but for a newbie doing almost half of my first grow completely
WRONG i was happy with the results.

This is the guy whos info I have been following to the letter, other than the holes in the tub. Soaked rye for 24 hours boiled 10 minutes with gypsum. dried, jarred and inoculated. lids made with 2 layers of tyvek and after injection, covered with single layer medical tape. Casing is made according to the recipe in the video. Peat moss, verm, gypsum and calcium carbonate. He said to put in fruiting chamber once surface was colinized 20%. I did so but let it sit in chamber for several days with the foil lifted slightly. Took foil off tray when I saw more growth and the surface was covered completely. I'm inexperienced and have no idea what the results should look like at this point. I'm mostly concerned because is seems like the one fruitbody in the middle seems to be the only one progressing at this point. Already did 10 years in the joint, been out for three and now I'm full of cancer, so there is little possibility of fucking my life up, but thanks for your concern.
