I'm inclined to agree but taking my meds is easier than self-improvement.

That's a good point.
i think they should specify what they mean by mental illness.
i can see spiritual turmoil being the source of anxiety and depression.

Gonna have to serve somebody. If it ain't the Lord, it's the Devil. So is it really any wonder why so many of the latter act like neither of these exist? Haha, and I can't say I blame 'em. Much easier to just play dumb and act like you're too smart for that "religion stuff".

Same with schizophrenics and bi-polar disorder. These are physical and chemical imbalances in then head.
So unless religion can cure these chemical imbalances then the original tactical is pretty moot.
I guess it could be applied to less tangible diseases and disorders like alcholosim, anxiety or cleptomania but even clinical depression can be linked to chemical imbalances.
Its a pretty hard sell.

I'm Christian but i struggle with my faith sometimes.
I know it opens myself up to a lot of ridicule but Jesus did say that would happen...
I'm also a big skeptic and a fan of the sciences so sometimes i have an internal conflict.
I don't so much take the bible at face value(except words that Jesus spoke, highlighted in red in some bibles) as i believe that jesus was a real person who advocated alot of good ideas. I also believe that he was divine in nature.
I mean alot of what happened was documented by non-believers who had no investment in making people 2000 years down the line become believers.
We have discovered that a huge earthquake did in fact happen around the time of his Crucifixion and most historians agree that he actually existed.

Because our medical system doesn't recognize spiritual or mystical experiences , it labels any incidence of such as mental illness.
Not all diagnoses of mental illness are objective . Often they simply diagnose things they don't understand at all.

Don't know if the article is real, but it's true.
People have mental illnesses because of the bad things they do or cuz of the bad things that have been done to them. Either way, It's all bad.

That exact quote actually originated from the bible..

Maybe some people, can handle depression better maybe with their belief, but for the rest nahh
Religion is the drug of hope, they feel like they have some sort of key to happiness, but really they are all just addicts waiting for their next hit of bullshit, riding this dopamine high
i feel psychedelic and spirituality is the same in this sense, thats why some people are in someway addicted to psychedelics.
Thats personally why i was doing so much psychedelic back then, you think you finded a meaning to Life and you figured it out, you feel enligthened. You ride this egocentric dopamine high
For some people its enough to cure depression.

Been through that phase with the psychedelics. Everyone's gotta go through it it seems, it's like a right of passage.
Imho, there's a very powerful illusion a foot, but that doesn't mean there isn't some truth in it.
I've found, through my experiences, and just overall questioning everything and what not, that there is an extremely fine line between what is real and what is an illusion, trying to decern between those two is like the whole needle In a hay stack idiom, or as the saying goes, like walking on the edge of a razor blade.
It's almost impossible, yet it is possible..
