Habitat: Where does it grow?
PNW central valley
To the side of a decayed log with plenty of shade, amongst other species
Gills:
Looked like typical pan gills / couldn't see / not applicable
Stem: Length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc.
Short, beefy, size of a nickel, pretty thick / thin flimsy hollow, an uprooted one peeled like Psathyrella
Cap: Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc.
Spore print color: Purple black on the first nothing on the next
Bruising:
None
Other information: Scent of the mushroom brought me to them. But it didn't stink nor sweet. The decay around me was stronger.
There were some tubaria and hypholoma growing centimeters apart. I regret not getting the shot. Remnants of a tiny inky cap with its gills flayed up were nearby.
Base of stipe says psathyrella on 2nd specimens, but there were pins nearby fruiting not like how psathyrella fruits. Looked like they were popping a casing layer. One had brushed away and it had a string cheese stem, so I think it's that.
The white guys have purple spores. I think you guys see them as black. Gills looked very familiar. I took a swab and brought it to the sunlight and it was purple with streaks of black. Gills gray.
I almost want to say they were a kind of pan. Horses do come through this trails but in the spring. They felt like mottlegills and pan cyan would feel like. But I'm not sold on panaleous, just using it as an example.

Thanks Joie. I'll have to get a picture of that place next time I go by. It's so cool to see so many different species congregating in a tight area.
