Lurking clown arrested in Kentucky woods near apartments http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-37455073

Kentucky police have arrested a man dressed as a clown lurking in a wooded area amid a wave of clown reports in at least six US states.
Jonathan Martin, 20, was charged with wearing a mask in a public place and disorderly conduct in Middlesboro.
He was found at about 0100 EST (0600 GMT) on Friday in "full clown costume" and mask crouching among trees by an apartment complex, according to police.
Recent reports of clowns trying to lure children into woods have sparked alarm.
Police have warned individuals against dressing up in clown costumes, adding it could lead to criminal charges.
"Dressing as a clown and driving, walking or standing in public can create a dangerous situation for you and others," police in nearby Barbourville, Kentucky, said in a statement online.
"While dressing up is not, in and of itself against the law, doing so in public and thereby creating an unnecessary sense of alarm is illegal."

I'm sure he was just trying to get someone to take a picture so he can be one of the next clown sightings. Now he's been arrested, had his mugshot become public, and people will think he's a freak. I wonder if it was worth it lol

Penny wise the clown comes to mind. Looks like people are taking things to lightly, should have charged him with intent to disgrace a good book.

You can be a clown but you need to use facepaint and a shiny red nose not a stupid mask. If I saw some fucker crawling around my bushes dressed in a mask I would beat him with his own normal sized shoes, but old school clowns are welcome to stalk me in the middle of the night.

If he were a real clown he could have sprayed the police in the face with his seltzer bottle or flower lapel, got in his tiny car with 19 other clowns, then escaped. Obviously not a real clown tho.

There's actually been local clown sightings in the city right up the highway from my town
Apparently some people think it's funny to dress up as clowns and stalk little children on their way to school

I know way too many people who would lose their shit and physically attack someone dressed up as a clown if they were doing any of the following.
A) saw a clown following them around at night.
B) found a clown hiding in some bushes or around their house.
C) saw a clown waiting outside of a store creepily or asked them to "come with them"
Especially the lurking around the house, you could get seriously hurt doing that to the wrong people.

I saw a clown driving on the freeway once, it was funny cuz he seemed really nonchalant about, even looked kinda miserable almost as if he were going to his everyday 9 to 5 clown job.
Freeways need more clowns

I feel like clowns are supposed to have a dark twisted side. It's the very core of the clown archetype. Happy on the outside, cripplingly depressed and twisted on the inside. Mimes are just an offshoot of clowns, and carnival culture has an eerily dark side to it as well.
