Are these shaggy mane's?
    #23673241 - 09/24/16 08:13 AM (7 years, 4 months ago)

I live in south central MN and we have had a ton of moisture this year, this is the first time I have seen these pop up in my yard.  Are they shaggy mane's?  I am working on trying to acquire a spore print as we speak.

Chlorophyllum species, a white spore print will confirm Chlorophyllum brunneum as this has a thick ring and an abrubt bulbous margin and there are pine needles stuck to the base.

Side note, if this were to give a green spore print (which it won't), that would indicate Chlorophyllum molybdites which has a much thinner stalk, droopier cap (ratio of cap diameter to stem length), and gills that age green with spores. C. molybdites is usually found in a grass setting.

Thanks!  So these are edible right?  I looked it up and will confirm once it prints that it is Chlorophyllum brunneum.  Are they good?

They are edible and taste fine.  Some people recommend eating only a few bites when you're trying a new mushroom, wait 24 hours and such.  I ate these with no problem and would collect them for cooking if I came across them.
