Saving fruits for later taking spore prints

What would be the best way of harvesting a fruit with an untorned veil and saving it for about 3 days before taking a print?

The veil splits when its ready to drop spores, just leave them till they start to drop

Yeah Tira. I would wait until the veil tears, so honestly the best way to "save" it is to leave it on the substrate until it's sporulating, and then remove the cap and print it. That's it really, saving it for days at a time beyond that point are days it can be making you prints. Just leave it under a shot glass and foil in your SAB and move it a couple times, for a few prints you can trade with your buddies, or hold back for a rainy day.

I don't bother with the glass makes it sweaty and sticky in there also making it fairly airtight breading ground for bacteria/ molds, on foil in SAB is fine imo

the caps need to dry slowly, you dont want them to sit wet under a shot glass, it can stop spores from ejecting all together.

I just thought spore print would be cleaner if I picked the fruit before it opened its veil and I cut the veil in SAB.
I like to take prints in jars with filtered holes. That way they both get GE and stay clean.

yes you can do that, tear the veil yourself. if you gonna print a bunch its easier to use the sab than set up multiple jars IMO. you cover the arm holes with something breathable or just TP, prints are usually just as clean when printed in SAB as they are when you go through lengths to give each their own sterilized little jar to sit in.

wiping them with iso then putting them into sterilized jars does.

Putting a foil if I need to save the print for later works, or one might just take the cap out and fill the spore-printed jar with sterilized water and shake to make spore solution.

Put a decent sized tissue sample into clean wild bird seed. The tissue will grow out and you get spawn.
Take 8 fruit samples, more genetics.

dont wipe your caps with iso, and if you're not printing on foil you need to sterilize/sanitize your jars first. if you want 100% sterile prints let an agar plate colonize and print a fruit from that plate. should be as clean as they come.
always take tissue to agar first. you dont want to start a grow off with such a sketchy technique. strive for 100% perfection, nothing less.

instead of saving caps to make a print, why not take a clone.. or something. its almost easier if you are careful with SAB and all that. even a 'clean' print can be dirty as hell.

O.o you're sterilizing jars and wiping caps down with iso? Wouldn't the easier option be to just have them printing in your SAB? No alcohol or PCs necessary.
As to why you shouldn't have iso on your caps. I'd say it's because of the reasons stated above on why you shouldn't have a jar over them. Alcohol evaporates hella quickly. It could saturate the air in the glass. It would make for a soggy cap in that situation.
I much prefer just printing for 24 hours in a sab. After 24 hours they're shrivelled and basically half dried anyway. Nice thick dark prints under them shrivelled caps, and then you let the prints dry in your SAB for another 24 hours. Very few contaminations survive the 24 hour print drying.

I take a print for a few hours. Move it to a new foil. I figure the first one is more contaminate prone the second one is good for trades.
Never had a problem not doing a bunch of dumb extra shit to take prints like tearing veils or that crap.
