A Sea of Aborts

So. My last MS grow before testing out 4-5 clones.

So. Many. Aborts...
The most I've ever seen. How much of this is related to being from MS and how much of this is related to conditions?
How do you personally treat your monotub when you see an ultra massive pinset like this one?
Thank you!
Edit: This is a picture of the substrate following the first harvest. Lid was not removed until harvest time.

Did you must them heavily when you noticed all of the pins?

No, on this particular tub - the lid was never removed until first flush harvest.
Substrate moisture not high enough to support that many fruiting bodies?
Bottom-watering might have been needed?

Holy moly! Would you elaborate on your MS tek? How much (and what concentration) of spore solution did you use? Did you use spawn jars?

I can't really tell from the picture but it doesn't look like the sub has shrunk that much. So maybe a temp change? Or not enough nutrients. Maybe the first flush wiped it out. Did you have a low spawn/sub ratio?

Nice fucking pinset, Morty! My guess is that's pretty awesome for MS. Interested to hear what people have to say about the aborts. Is that CVG?

Bad isolate from spores, or bacteria induced IMO

Agreed. Might also be insufficient water. I find the colony will start aborting long before it actually runs out of water.
However I suspect that lack of FAE is an even bigger contributer. Those pins look lanky. If the FAE was good the only other explanation for the way they look is trich pins.

The tub definitely had some bacteria in it... This is my last tub of MS left in fruiting. This tub was derived from MS syringe>grain>grain>grain>tub Don't hate... I was waiting on clones. Lol
First flush yielded approx. 100-110 grams... The mushrooms that grew were all approximately 5" high... flush was uneven, but that's to be expected with MS. 4.5 quarts WBS. Pins started quick - day 7 and it was pinning. The substrate was not 'fully' colonized before the pinning started. I think this may be a reaction to bacterial spawn?

Lol, it would have been an awesome flush if 60% of the pins didn't abort!
Coir/Verm. I don't use gypsum but plan to try it out on my next set of tubs. Just bought a small bag today.
Thanks
