What is the optimal temp for colonizing? If I'm in the low 60's, can I put a heating pad under the tank as suggested my Midwest Grow Kits?

60-75 is fine. never, ever, put a heating pad anywhere near your jars, unless you want to cook them until they are dry and dead.

I originally bought my kit from Midwest which came with heating pad. Used the kit twice and got a decent amount of shrroms while using the heating pad but only a few cakes colonized and some only half way. So I read on here how to do everything myself and am now doing just that. Work in progress but I'm getting there.
What is the optimal temp for fruiting. I'm at about 65

My fruiting room is in my garage and gets into the low 60s at night and mid 70s during the day. Everything looks great. Whatever your ambient temps are will work fine as long as they don't drop below 60 IMO. Even down into the 30s and 40s, as long as you're above freezing temps, it will still grow, albeit slowly. I'm going to be doing a test this fall to see how cold you can go before diminishing returns set in this fall. Once it gets to be unsatisfactorily cool, I'll be putting an electric radiator in the fruiting room. My oysters are gonna love the cooler temps though.

Yeah all of my spawn grows at room temp. Never had a problem. I don't know what I'll end up doing come summertime since I can't really cool this room. No way to put in an AC and I keep the humidity too high for an evaporative cooler to do any good. Guess I'll just lose a few more tubs in the summer.
