Psh let him keep it. It's already been hours since he started the thread. At this rate it should've doubled or tripled in size. Soon it'll be showing off its morphology all over the jar.

Well I'll separate it from the others. I've done this before had contams and had no contams. It is too early but people say all over they have growth in 3 days. I'm gonna keep an eye on this hope it's not cobweb. Surprised with how many people have given me attitudes or uninformative answers though. Lighten up

One question. Why do you still have the foil on your jars? Take it off as the cakes need gas exchange through the inoculation holes.

Many instructional videos and instructions I received say to keep the foil on loosely. I also see other pics everywhere of people keeping the foil on. I can take them off I will when I see them here soon.

Took foil off. The white patch is still about the same size as yesterday. I'm gonna keep waiting. Any thoughts are appreciated

No respectable trusted cultivators think leaving foil on is a good idea. Where did you get this info from... Lol I mean what video. I'd stay away from those videos and use our awesome search function
I leave foil on top of my grain jars, loosely, because I use whole cellulose filter discs and the foil is convenient to write on and keeps the grain from drying out, but for PF jars there's no reason to.

Wouldn't cfds be one of the worst filters to have under foil? It molds pretty bad when wet

Not where I live. The discs dry out almost immediately even with the loose foil. I do it that way because it's a quick and easy one piece lid. I'm not sure it's the best way to do it, but it sure is the easiest way to make a mycology lid, and it's never given me any issues beyond the grain drying out without foil. I was using SFDs but CFDs fit snugly in the ring. I haven't had good luck with plastic lids, and 2 piece lids annoy me.

It is definitely mold. I opened it in the end and it is discolored pink and green for sure. It had to have been growing in the jar there was about 4-5 days between sterilization and innoc. It was also not under one of my innoc holes. It is trashed I hope all the others are okay I have confidence they will be I was pretty precautions and used a makeshift bio box and have done this several times. Thanks guys!

I have a question. Do you guys think the mold is from inoculation error, or from sterilization error or the period between sterilization and inoculation?

Depends on all the steps inbetween each one basically if your jars were ok them sitting a few days before noc they would have been good being they sit for a month colonizing it probably was you noc'ing them up

Nothing took a month, I feel like that jar was just a doosey I don't know how I noticed something growing 2 hours after inoculation. Hoping for the best I'll update.
