Calling and venting will make a difference truly. Call and email anyone you fucking want and tell them what you think about this bullshit. Make noise, make a stink, and make their lives miserable if need be, thats what this ban is trying to do to us.

honestly, I believe we are going to beat this. I believe this ban will be defeated and it will be remembered as a watershed moment when the people finally told the DEA to fuck off.

And that will be the beginning of the end of their bullshit unscientific unilateral criminalization of safe medicines.

I believe this will be defeated.

I sure hope so. I really believe that the DEA is the shining example of the government bloat and overreach that the republicans are always complaining about. Defund the DEA and give all the money to public schools I say.

DEA delays ban on herbal supplement Kratom

September 30, 2016 06:39 AM

The DEA says the herbal supplement Kratom is highly addictive and dangerous. It was supposed to be banned nationwide starting Friday.

The herb is made from plants found in Southeast Asia. It helps alleviate their pain without any side effects.  After public outcry and a petition to the White House, federal officials have decided to delay the ban.

A DEA spokesperson saying at this point there is no timetable saying it could happen next week or sometime in the future.

The ban would make Kratom a schedule one drug, on par with heroin, LSD, and marijuana. This would make the sale and possession of the substance a felony.

Now would NOT be the time to let up.. keep fighting!!

Note: Bernie Sanders has also signed on to the Hatch Dear Colleague Letter.  Clocking in at a grand total of.. 11!  Beautiful job everyone!!  KEEP FIGHTING!!

Either the AKA spread some money to the right places, or they are waiting for something to happen in the news so they can sweep this under the rug quietly as they are wont to do.

I'm sorry for your negative experiences and suffering. Due to innumerable ailments, many people rely on kratom to function on a daily basis (much like cannabis). Just because you found yourself addicted to the substance doesn't mean it should be classified as a schedule I substance. Countless individuals dose kratom responsibly and treat it as a natural medicine, which in many cases, has turned their life around for the better.

Humans can become hopelessly addicted to anything. One of the major addictions affecting a large population of society is sex. Should we all say, "fuck sex, it's harder to kick than heroin, it should be illegal"?
Besides making a substance illegal doesn't help the majority of individuals kick their addictions; it only makes it harder to obtain, causing individuals to do risky and illegal things to acquire their medicine/high.

But YES, I'd say kratom is harder to kick than ibuprofen.

I don't want to call you names, but I have a 12" rod in my spine, and took oxy15's (8 a day) for 12 years. And then I was able to nightmare off of that shit, and after a month - tried Kratom, and while it's not a magic cure all (the pills were, but they were honestly, a nightmare) - kratom isn't shit.

I don't know what pills (asprin? or what?) you are referring to, but I can assure you - you do not know what you are talking about.

Opiates had me on the floor, non-stop pooping, sweats, RLS, and unable to move - for almost 2 weeks.

Sometimes I forget to take Kratom. I never, ever, forgot to take an Oxy15.

I hope that says something to you. If I didn't have my pills, I couldn't go out in public. My anxiety (created by pills) was through the roof, I was sweating all over, and felt the overwhelming blood rush and heat flashes not stop. Kratom doesn't do shit.

I don't know how much Kratom you are taking, but it sounds like maybe you are going WELL over the normal threshold, if its affecting you. I don't like to draw comparo's between people's pain - but I doubt you have a 12 inch rod in your back (that broke out, free, from my spine) and had the exact same surgery done twice, causing major nerve damage where they scraped bone from both sides of my hips, to patch the hardware in to my spine. A 16 hour surgery the first time, 4 weeks later - a 12 hour surgery. I grew 2 inches taller - I had that severe of spine curvature. Now, I am still in pain - but I work out 2 hours a day, bench over my body weight, and co-teach classes at the gym.

I don't know what the hell you are talking about, Kratom is like 1/20th as strong as Oxy15 IR, and I've never snorted, or IV'd anything in my life.

Maybe you should stop taking kratom if you are abusing it. It's what happened to me losing my pain script, because all these knuckleheads were abusing it, and I happen to smoke herb - and my test came back for cannabis. So I was discharged. I was never tested until 2013 - because of the abuse levels from all these other people getting pills, diversion, overdoing it, or going up the ladder to H and Fent.

BIG NEWS!

Quote:

WE'RE GETTING A CHANCE TO BE HEARD; OFFICIALLY!

Just off the phone with Congressman Pocan's office. The DEA will be releasing a statement in the next few days about opening a public comment period and exactly what that will look like. Obviously we are going to need to flood them with comments!

Aside from every single person writing in with their testimonies, we will need to get as many medical professionals (preferably MDs) and scientists to submit comment and testimony as we possibly can to challenge the claims that Kratom is an opiate and that it has no medicinal use.

This is a very big deal y'all. It's completely unprecedented. And regardless of what happens, it means our voices have been heard!!!

As an aside but also important, with Congressman Pocan being our champion, no more calls are needed to his office. I sincerely thanked him on behalf of all of us (and if you live in WI, you should send a thank you), but let's let them now focus on seeing this process through with us!

We must absolutely flood the DEA with comments when the allotted time is appropriate!

In college I was diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome, due to abusing my body while rock climbing and damaging my nerves in multiple locations between my nerve root and finger tips. After being prescribed narcotics I became addicted to opiates. When I attempted to initiate cessation by calling my doc and ending my script (bad idea) I ended up turning to street pill, which was primarily roxy (much stronger than what I was prescribed). Immediately after graduating I successfully went through WDs with the help of kratom. Soon after that I went sober with no desire or need to take any opiates of any kind. I have now started a company with some of my close friends, which requires hard physical labor at times. My nerve pain ,while better, still exists, and for this I only require kratom.  Never even thought of going back to pills, never want to, never going to.

Keep us updated!! I would like to send in my testimony. Just tell me when and where!

I've had several severe broken bones and I have nerve pain too. Kratom eliminates the residual pain for the most part, but there's still the perpetual discomfort from having metal plates screwed into my skeleton. Both of those severe injuries happened before I turned 25 and I was still on my family healthcare plan. When my pain started getting really bad (add the injuries to working construction most of my adult life) I didn't have health insurance anymore so I didn't even bother going to the doctor. I just started smoking black tar. After a year long affair with that and seeing some of my friends graduate to needles, I decided to quit and started buying suboxone on the street. I was getting it for 5 bucks a strip/pill and took it way too much. It became less about managing my pain and more about how energetic and productive I was when I was on it. I would cut a strip into 8 pieces or bust a pill up into 8 lines. I took suboxone daily for about 3 years because it helped with my pain and helped me stop smoking black. Eventually I decided I didn't want to be in the grasp of that shit anymore and started taking kratom. I was able to stop the suboxone without any trouble because of it. Now I take about 10-15 grams of kratom a day and it does everything I need it to. Sometimes I still take suboxone, but only very rarely. I remember the sheer misery I would be in when I would run out and couldn't pick up more all too well, and I never want to fall back into a pattern of daily use. It's great for if you want to stop heroin, especially if you're slamming it, but as I was only smoking it I could have gone straight to kratom had I known about it, and I wish I had because then the suboxone would never have gotten its claws so deep in me.

Man this is such good news. I usually hydrate the powder, then mix it with chocolate milk to take it, but I just toss and washed a big spoonful for the hell of it.

Kratom is clearly not an opiate but it is also clearly an opioid..... be the bigger man, don't fight bullshit with bullshit. It's a safe partial agonist opioid, but an opioid nevertheless

Kratom is a unique opioid that has no relationship to opium and has many effects that make it something far more and less than a simple opioid including opioid antagonist alkaloids.

Yes, it is an opioid, but it is a natural plant that has no relation to opium, and has been successfully used to treat opium addiction in thailand for generations.

It has a huge variety of alkaloids with a wide variety of effects.

It has alkaloids in it with unique opioid effect that is clear. But those are only a few out of the many that have been found so far...
