Is anyone interested in building a nutrigenomics app?
    #23667747 - 09/22/16 11:20 AM (7 years, 4 months ago)

I've built a system for interpreting raw data from 23andme and other genome sequencing services, I have the framework built, but to make a site like this successful, we need to focus in on a niche, a specialised area that the other sites won't get into. So the first niche that comes to mind for me is drugs. There are endless places we can go with this. Does anyone here with extensive knowledge in pharmacology, drugs, supplements, genes, medicine, biochemistry etc. want to partner up?

If you could predict the efficacy and effects of drugs based on 23andme data, the pharmaceutical companies would be doing it already.

...the whole experience is (and is as) a profound piece of knowledge.  It is an indellible experience; it is forever known.  I have known myself in a way I doubt I would have ever occurred except as it did.

...most subjects find the experience valuable, some find it frightening, and many say that is it uniquely lovely.

I'm pretty sure the pharmaceutical companies are doing it. You can predict all kinds of things based on someones SNPs. Tryptophan for instance, if you have a bad SNP in the TPH2 gene, tryptophan supplements are useless. With drugs you can get a rough idea of how well you can metabolise them, how sensitive your receptors are, how toxic they are etc.
