I'd just like to share with you my first grow. since I've been working like a dog recently I haven't had a lot of free time. I'm running out of dried liberty caps I picked last year so thought I'd give growing a go. Like I said I have hardly any free time so went for a grow bag. Which actually worked quite nicely. Got home from work last night to find the veils ready to tear, and low and behold, this morning a fair few of them have broken, but no spores yet (I'll probably find them tonight) My only time to harvest is when i get in from work. I like the markings on some of the caps, is this a natural thing or has something gone wrong?? anyways I'd love to know your thoughts or tips on this grow.
Enjoy

Both mycelium on caps and fuzzy mycelium on the stems and base of the stems of fruits are caused by lack of fresh air exhange (that's why people call grow bags "choke bags"; they make shrooms beg for air). You could poke more holes on the bag to provide more fresh air exchange, trust me your fruits will be a lot happier and you'll get more flushes .)
Fanning it won't really help except for fanning after misting, which help triggering evaporation. You need constant fresh air exchange. Other than that, they look pretty good.
Try to pick them right before or right after the veil under the cap is broken.

Thanks for the advise. I was wondering what the fuzziness was. I'll get on that. Yeah, I had some timing issues. They were all perfect to harvest last night, but I didn't have the time! I'm quite pleased with it, even though it was done in a grow bag... I'll put more pics of my harvest tonight

First harvest. That kit probably has more potential for a second flush.

I'm hoping to get that going after harvesting. Dropping spores don't affect the next flush do they? I've read they don't, just want someone to confirm.

Oh and the fuzziness? How would I go about that? Do I dry the shrooms as I would and just leave it or take it off?

Please take a spore print or two. Honestly the biggest mistake i see on here for first time growers is bad fruiting boxs. second is not taking a spore print.

If you plan to grow more, get a dehydrator.

I'm already regretting not getting a dehydrator. They've been fan drying over night, and I've just put them in a chamber with desiccant. At the moment I'll have to see how this goes

Yea you really need to get clean spore prints and agar some myc right alway. Stone producing strains are always in high demand. And since you like liberty caps that last so long. I believe stone production is for you. If you make a clean cultures and inoculate correctly you have enough active stones to last you years.

Not necessarily. The white spots on those caps are just remnants of the mycelium that encapsulated the pin when it was developing, similar to universal veil remnants on amanita muscaria. Totally normal. I've fruited in open air and had mushrooms with spotted caps and fuzzy feet. Some mushrooms are just naturally prone to fuzzy feet, no matter how much fresh air they get. If you dissect the base of a mushroom you'll see that there's a layer of fuzzy mycelium that surrounds the actual stipe. A much better telltale sign of low FAE is long skinny stems and underdeveloped caps. Looks good OP. Get some prints and start researching agar

I can't wait to start the proper growing process. Got my dehydrator today, hopefully I'll get a second flush from this grow kit at some point, but it's looking less likely every day. Best get my head down and research!
