Holy fucking shit. I just watched this movie on an eighth of mushroom. Now I've seen this movie countless times before, but never on mushrooms. And wow, the whole movie is filled with metaphors, some of which I could use to describe a psychedelic experience.
I must say, Brutal Death Cult, thank you for suggesting this movie to watch tonight.
And the ending of this movie is exactly like coming down from a trip. Fantastic!!!
Douglas Adams, I salute you.

Yeah man, Douglas Adams was crazy awesome. Has anybody read his 'last chance to see' book, where he and a zoologist scour the earth for critically endangered species? A very depressing book that has you

If anyone who views this thread could be so kind and make me an animated gif of the guy in the red jumpsuit pushing down the plunger to make the Amanita muscaria mushrooms pop up. It's at 1:30:06-1:30:10, after pushing the plunger and seeing the mushrooms pop up, the guy is happy and looks up to see Arthur and Slartibartfast zoom across the sky. It cuts between Arthur and Slartibartfast before and after this specific scene, and I thought it would make a great gif.
Thank you so much in advance

The movie kinda sucked. Wasn't close enough and didn't have the right feel at all.

The movie is definitely good while on a solid dose.
I'm reading the book right now though, again. It is much better than the movie.

I loved the books, tolerated the movie. Douglas Adams forever shaped my sense of humor, I read the first book in a day in like 7th grade lol.

the tv series and books are better, but the movie isn't bad. I'd advise reading the books though they're much funnier

The audio books are cool too, Adams narrated them all himself.

I read the books in high school but never knew there was a mini series. I just can't believe how many tripping metaphors I was able to notice. Granted I was high on mushrooms, but a lot of it made sense to me at the time.
It struck me towards the ending when Slartibartfast says "I must warn you, we're going to pass through, well, a sort of gateway thing." while Arthur has a terrified look on his face as they zoom faster and faster down a long narrow tunnel and 'breaking through' to the factory floor, where planets are made. I have never smoked DMT and I don't believe I've eaten enough mushrooms to have seen this tunneling effect that some people have described in a breakthrough experience, but this scene made me think about having a breakthrough DMT experience and having the workings of our own reality shown to us, that what is behind the veil, that I have read people describe on DMT.
