Habitat: Northern Ontario, near small shrubby birches and various random shrubbery next to a railroad. Found growing on moss.
Gills: White, unattached
Stem: 6", solid, veil remnant on top, very easy to remove, three rings on the bottom, well attached, with curly bits around the base.
Cap: 8", pale yellow with slight brown/orange tint, darker at the center, solid with a slightly papery feel to the skin, and removable veil remnant specks. smaller mushrooms convex with gills visible through skin a bit on the edge, larger mushroom flat, with a slight convex dip around the middle.
Spore print color: Very pretty pure white spore print.
Bruising: very slight brown colour where I was holding it walking home, no visible browning on split stem while drying.
Other information: Smells like grocery store mushrooms...?

Judging by the 3 rings above the volva I would guess muscaria but wait for a TI.

Ewww, drying it made dozens of little white wormies try to escape and die all over the drying surface, and I got swarmed by a few hundred that were hiding under the cap when I lifted it up to try and throw away the cap... Still want to find out what it was, but going to have to watch for that in the future. lol Any easy way to check for parasites without dissecting the caps? The caps are so pretty...

It's ok they're just extra protein.
Seriously though I dont know of a way to check for worms without cutting up the mushroom in some way, It most likely is Muscaria var guessowii.

So how does one get a response from a TI? I really just need a bit of advice on common things that noobs overlook, and possible local fungi that may be dangerous and easy to mistake for guessowii. I feel I have done as much research as can be expected of an amature without a bit of guidance, I've checked related posts, looked up terms so that I can identify identifying characteristics... I just need a someone to point out anything obvious I may have missed... I have dried a few dozen of these, and cooked them at a low temperature in the oven for a while, but need someone to learn from... If this isn't guessowii, will I be horribly sick, or will I need a liver transplant? Can I bribe a TI with sexual favours? Awesome cartoon recommendations? Beard clippings?
