First time grower/ mold concerns

Hello everyone,
I've been reading articles and threads on this site for weeks and I finally decided To create a login today. I'm very thankful for this website and everyone on here because I've learned a lot so far from just reading what you all have to say. But I'll be a first time grower. I've chosen the Cambodian Cubensis to start. I've went through hundreds of articles on this site and others as well as watched a bunch of videos. I'll be doing the pf tek method in a large plastic bin for my first grow with verm and brown rice flour cakes.
My question is..I read so many articles about mold and it has me a bit concerned. I plan to be very sterile (I'm an OCD Virgo so that shouldn't be hard)..But how often does mold occur when growing? And as this will be my first grow, how likely am I to have a successful batch if I follow the instructions by the book? What have been your guys experience when you did your first grow? (If you can remember that far back lol) Thanks in advance for any input.

First of all welcome .)
Chances of having mold if you work clean and sterilize properly are really low. If you're doing pf cakes that risk is even lower. My first time I didn't even PC my jars I just boiled them and inoculated them in open air in the kitchen and had zero contams. The verm barrier of pf cakes really help protect the substrate from contaminates.
So, if you work sterile and use a PC, you'll probably see no contams.
and don't worry so much about mold, it'll happen to best of us. Don't see it as a failure but as an experience that will help you better understand this hobby .)

Same here, no mold my first time till the cakes were spent after 4 to 5 flushes or more.
this is my second round with 12 cakes and was a little suspect of a couple of them contaminated with bacteria but I believe they are all good again. I worked carefully and sprayed and wiped everything down working with a SAB.

Thank you for your response. I really appreciate it. I tried posting this question somewhere else but it says I can't post new topics. Not sure why so hope you don't mind if I ask you one more question. But is it okay to touch the jars when they are just sitting colonizing? I know you shouldn't move them so as not to disturb the dry verm barrier on top but as far as bacteria and contam is it okay to touch at this point?

Yes ofc, only risk it contains is to disturb the verm barrier as you mentioned. You seem to know what you're doing, just use your common sense .)
