Mesc tea prep

I have dried p. Torch chips and want to make a tea. I don't have a coffee grinder to powder the chips. The chips though aren't huge chunks. Couldn't I just make the tea from chips ? I don't see how powderizing would make it any better. Am I wrong about this ? Is powdering a must ? I get the gist of it. Simmer / add lemon juice / reduce / consume. Someone please drop some knowledge on me I would appreciate it

I have made tea from chunks of fresh.  Gave the best body and high but not visual.  Tried other routes and some were just plain awful.  Suppose making coffee from whole roasted beans is best?  Probably not very good but we don't soak the beans in a boil for hours either.

If you don't have a coffeegrinder just put your chips into an empty plastic bag and spank them with a rubber hammer until you're pleased.

Surface area increases the extraction.  Large chunks aren't going to extract so easily.  Large pieces have less surface area.

Exactly. You could make tea from just the chips but you wont get as good a yield as if you powder them. It will most likely be worth your time to buy a coffee grinder.

Actually, surface area isn't the only problem you face either. What will happen is the chips will absorb a lot of the water you boil them in, especially as you boil it down a lot of the water will remain in the chips and the mescaline with it. Squeezing the water out of the chips will be a lot harder than squeezing powder.

Once they soaked up you can bash them up. Do more than one boil and combine tea from each boil.
