Maths puzzles
    #23663937 - 09/21/16 01:20 AM (7 years, 4 months ago)

I dropped out of my physics degree but I'm looking to go back and carry on from where I left off next year. In the mean time I want to get myself in a position where I'm better at math than I was before, and also to dust off the drug induced cobwebs on my noggin.

Ideally what I looking for is a good a problem book that starts relatively simple, then get's increasingly complex (I got up to vector calculus, laplace transforms etc). Answers included would definitely be beneifical.

I'm gonna go through my old text books but I want something I can take with me to work and do during the mass amounts of time I spend staring into space. The breezeblock sized book on mathematical techniques I've got isn't really practical for this

Basically I'm looking for a book of "starters for 10"; what my maths tutor used to call the problems she'd whack on the board to get us warmed up.

I don't know of any books like this, but why not try writing simulations? It's pretty easy to pick up programming languages, especially with a background in mathematics.

Less drugs and a physical hobby might keep you out of one of those padded rooms bro .

He is already in a mental hospital and has been diagnosed with schizophrenia.

ps- but I do agree, more physical exercise can only help.

That guy really needs to get a copy of "The Art of Electronics", 3rd edition and a soldering kit. It will probably do wonders for him.
Fair warning: stay away from AC and only work with DC!!

It will probably keep him focused and it seems like something he would really enjoy.

How did you get better? Any advice that could help him get stable again?
