I'm a noob for anything but actives.. are these food haha?

I'm worried about false ones, also the last pic looks a bit different. There are about a dozen in the spot.

Chantrelles have false gills. Those in your pics have gills.

Thanks. I kinda figured it was too good to be true. I'm new to foraging,I did make good with Lobster Mushrooms though!

Looks like the lobsters I get. Keep looking for chantrelles. I found 3 whites yesterday. It's to dry here still for a nice load. The next rain is what we need.

Is it just me but do those pics look like false gills?
I'm no chant expert, I never seen nor picked one so my viewpoint is worth nothing, but seems like false gills to me, especially on the far right picture where the gills connect and show they are not really gills.
On the round specimen, I would feel them to see if they are delicate. I don't know if chants ever have a perfectly round cap like that, the pics usually never show that.

Chanterrell on google images:

Also keep in mind, the jack-o-lantern test is to put it in a dark room, wait for your eyes to adjust and jack-o-lanterns glow in the dark.

See I'm just as confused about "false Gills".That said I've since watched some videos on youtube that show false gills as being pretty durable to the touch as well as barely raised. These particular mushrooms I've gathered the gills appear to be quite fragile, especially the next day.The gills smear and tear apart from the fruit where I believe false gills would not.
I too haven't had any experience seeing a Chanterelle outside a prepared soup.

I had the same question. I've been considering the branching of the "gills" as a solid indicator of false gills and a positive I'd for chants. Is this incorrect?

This link shows a chanterelle very similar to your picture. I'm not used to finding those. Wait for a Trusted Identifier.

More pictures for those that are curious. If not a chanterelle is it a false or?

Also these were found adjacent to a wet mossy clearing. They were under coniferous trees in groups of about a dozen.

Those are chanterelles.
Edit: Wait for a second opinion. The more I stare, the more I question some of them.

speaking of the last set of pics, that's a helluva lookalike if they're not true chanterelles.
however; the ridges were a little more open spaced and shallow on the 100's we collected (and ate) on the east coast this year.

I went to a known chanterelle spot today. Thanks to NO5842, it was his spot. I found that exact species. Deep fried them and fed my children and I tonight. Thanks ACYL

I just nibbled on one. The girlfriend is still concerned. They definitely smell light and fruity like apricot. Taste is a bit spicy/peppery. got any pics? or did you eat them all? ha

Chanterelles.
Fry them in butter until they are brown, pour some cream on them the last minutes and a sprinkle of salt. Serve on white bread.

A Trusted Identifier already said they are chantrelles. Mine look identical and yeah, we ate 6 of them.
