Bod's 2016 1

Well this year is a shit show, and cultivation took a back burner big time.
back in July I managed to make 6 pasty plates

I make up BRF agar and used blue food coloring as you can see.
I inoculated the 6 pasty plates with some AA+ and EnvySS fruits from this grow
using my no holes fruiting chamber TEK
I didn't much have the time to do much agar work so I just used the first plates, and hoped they were clean and Tiger Dropped (also see tiger drop 2.0) them into grain soak water LC
Ideally you would take transfers and drop something other than the first dish to agar. doing what I did and putting the plate you cloned on into a LC is poor technique and you shouldn't do it that way.

the LC looks pretty gross from the BRF agar and grain water sediment.
I decided to NOOB NEEDLE. everything from this point forward. the LC jars have SHIPs and the grain jars had SHIPs. I used 60CC syringes to give each jar between 10-20mL of the colonized LC.

here's what happens when you keep them around a long time
finally got around to making a tub with the spawn, luckily it broke apart easily even having sat around a while.

4.5-4.75 myco quarts of oat spawn. 4 quart jars and one of those 1.5 pint skinny tall jars. half full.
one brick of coir.(damion5050's bucket way)
no casing.
100% colonized in 5-6 days knots/pins in 8
"fruiting condition" at spawning, sort of the lid is flipped up side down so the gasket in the lid is never making a seal.

might see some AA+ eventually if I decide to use it. but the LC is pretty old now.
to be updated
9/23 5-6 days since knots

I've used that tek and it worked out pretty well:

Obviously it's very easy to adjust the fae. The only thing I did differently was add a window mesh over the gap in the lid to keep out the random fly.

They sank actually. The brf agar I used made the LC all cloudy and ugly. It was a beautiful golden clear grain water LC before i tiger dropped the agar plate in. Then the mycelial mat eventually formed and floated then pinned

A little bacteria on the caps after pinning

I used 150ppm chlorine spray and it seemed to help to be honest
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23653379/fpart/1/vc/1
Tried to take a print from this generation of ESS none of the caps printed even though there were spores at harvest. Didn't have any sterile swabs.

beautiful canopy
sweet, im glad the chlorine solution helped damn sure did for me
people need to bear in mind though (im sure bodhi understands this), for that solution to be effective it MUST evaporate, meaning it doesnt do its job if it just sits there in a puddle (could make the problem worse). i used a fan to facilitate the evaporation, and it knocked out my pretty major pseudomonas problem FAST. Of course fixing the FAE might solve it on its own, but the chlorine solution certainly seems to speed up the recovery
btw HUGE TAHANKS for sharing your no holes tek, and explaining the reasoning behind it: that really helped me connect some dots mentally and the first tub where i started running with the lid off while im home and regularly misting was my all time record for biggest fruit and biggest flush!! before, i was super paranoid about ever opening the lid, never misted except after harvests, lately ive been using bodhi's lid cracked technique.
i tried this on a clone tub and tested it against the same clone culture in a mono the way i did it before. i think the additional water made a huge difference, because the lid off tub had a fruit weigh 296 grams, and the first flush weighed 3498 grams!!! i thought i was dreaming hahaha.... still seems like something from No Man's Sky. the regular tub was a little under 2kg. i think the increased FAE and water helped a lot
so yeah, mush love bodhi, you fuckin rock

(all pics from 1 tub, same flush; i think it might be a record )

oh believe me, i shit a golden monkey when i confirmed that weight on another scale
more than anything in a while, that thread changed my perspective on the whole function of a fruiting chamber, helped connect lots of mental dots, and it is incredible what these cultures can do if we give em what they want.
ive had good results using monotubs as a set-and-forget method in the past, but it is really exciting to see just how much you can baby them before and during fruiting and how much they benefit from it. i used a fan on a timer and misted constantly to keep it from drying out (because it is damn hard to go back once it gets to that point). that enormous harvest sucked so much water out, i ended up turning the fan off entirely because i couldnt keep up with it; those things were thirsty!
it is really cool being able to shift between the "babying the hell out of it" mode when i am home and the "set-and-forget" mode for when i leave, simply by alternating whether the lid is on perpendicularly, snapped down, or tilted at an angle.
i still gotta work on my pinning strategy: i dont usually get those sexy full canopies you make such a habbit out of. huge fruits are pretty standard when i use hpoo+straw, but the wall to wall flushes are something i am still working on. i often end up letting half the harvest get over ripe trying to harvest them all at the same time. of course, the clone cultures and soon isolates will probably be a lot more even
PS: is that envy super strain??!! i will amazon prime you some sterile swabs tonight, and mail you any prints or cultures you want from my collection, hook a brotha up!!
