Hey. You over there.
So I decided I want to buy a guitar and learn how to play. I'm looking to buy a guitar in the $100-$150 range, just a simple acoustic for a guitar beginner. Any good brands out there? Anything I should be looking for? I came here first rather than a music forum because I know we must have some guitar masters lurking about.
Thanks in advance, guitar masters

Well there's alot to choosing a guitar more so tha just brands. First and foremost, you want a guitar that is well crafted and will last. You also want a guitar that sounds good. Now that is a tricky part. Every guitar(especially acoustic guitars) will sound different based on how the guitar is built and what it is made with. The wood that is used to make the acoustic will affect the tone quite a bit.
You want to make sure that it is a solid guitar. That the bridge is made with quality wood and not cheap painted wood(something that is sometimes on cheaper guitars). I'd check intonation with a tuner that can tell you each of the notes along each fret, since some cheaper guitars can have frets be off.
My best advice would be to learn to play a bit of guitar before you spend money on an acoustic. Just so you get a much better feel of what guitar you want to aim for. Guitars are expensive and can last a long time if taken care of. It's better to get a quality instrument.
Go to a guitar store and play and feel as many acoustics that interest you and catch your eye. Don't worry too much about the price range at first, it's better to get a feel for the guitars and quality before choosing one. The employees will definitely allow you to play as many as you desire.

Also, do not be afraid of used guitars. Sometimes buying a used guitar second hand can get you a really nice quality instrument without the large retail price. You just need to make sure it's in good quality with out any problems.

If you live in europe i highly reccomend the german page Thomman. They have a huge selection of guitars to a very good price. I´ve bought almost all of my instruments from them. They also have their own brand named Harley Benton that is cheaper than the popular brands but they´re still great quality.

I think they sell yamahas in that range, should be decent. I would go play around with guitars in your price range in person and find the one that feels right for you. I think one of my early mistakes buying guitars was buying a guitar just because it was a model that someone else liked. A guitar is like a companion, I have a personal connection to my guitars.
