New peruvian torch growing next to old one?

I have 3 peruvian torch cacti growing, each about 1 and half feet tall. I was surpried to see that a new one is coming up at the base of one of the bigger ones. It seems to be kind of attached to the bigger one, and I was wondering if it needs its own pot or I should just let it grow next to the other one?

You can probably let it grow, depends on the pot it is in, throw up some damn pics how else can we help you?
Besides, I am selfish and just want to see it.

Thanks!
Personally I say you are fine, that is a good pot size, let them be, it looks cool when there are multiple ones as well.
here is my trident in a 5 gallon I believe.

and take a look at this garden I found the other day, that pot has 10 or so trichs exploding from it, and they look great

That's how cacti work. You can move it if you want to after it gets bigger but it's fine leaving it too.

That happened with my Selenicereus - the root produced a second plant head, which just popped up above the soil. You never ceased to be surprised by what cacti will do.

What you have there is just a pup—a new branch—that happened to start just under the soil's surface. You don't need to do anything with it, it's just a sign that your cactus is healthy and happy and getting bigger.
What's confusing is that a lot of people selling trichocereus (especially San Pedro) at retail will pot two or three small cuttings right next to one another in the same vessel. I guess it's to make it look less lonely or something. It has the same general look as what you have here, except that the cacti will be much smaller and nowhere ready to begin pupping on their own. This is not a good situation.. Unlike what you see in your pot, these will be two separate cacti with two separate root systems. By putting them next to one another in the same pot, they're now in close competition for resources, in danger of becoming root-bound, and likely to strangle one another out. If you ever buy a cactus like this, best plan is to separate them immediately and repot both.

Did they really keep that gigantic plant in that tiny tiny little pot it's whole life? It certainly isn't pachanoi, I'd say peru/cuzco but impossible without more pictures
I know a lot of people that will not recommend sand for trichs under any circumstances and plenty of people that do fine with it as long it's not play sand, sharp sand is best
I use humus, coir, perlite, and stones in about equal parts

I think those were planted out in the ground originally, there has been many stems from the seller at auction. I couldn't be bothered to travel for one Lovely spines on them.

A lovely plant indeed. Makes me want a cutting if I head that way and the seller is still running auctions!
