Thought I would start a log

So good bad ugly this will be my first attempt at growing myshrooms. I was a master grower for 8 years for 3 dispensaries in Colorado plus my own home grow of 14k watts flowering. I'm sure I'll screw up from time to time but I always read and read. I've been looking into this for about two years now before this step. But I by no means feel like I know shit about shit. But anyway
I plan on doing a shotgun style once I get to that point. I'm useing WBS I pressure cooked it after a 24hr soak for 90min. I am not happy with my lids. So that will change. Next inoculation. On sept 11 I knocked up 2pint jars. Put them above my microwave in that useless cupboard. No idea the temp Ac is set at 74 it's summer in Texas so idk It's good enough to be in range
But anyway not much to show but a little bit of mycilium growth. This round is golden teacher next after I get this going and down I'll switch syringes to albino PE Monday the 19

Edit your post and remove the vendor name where you got the spores. No need to drag them into your felony plus it's against the rules.
You don't need to keep the foil on the lids assuming you built proper grain jar lids for those.
Better forget most of what you know regarding plants. These are nothing like plants.
Good luck and welcome to the shroomery!

That exactly why I started this to be honest it's nothing like it. I got bored growing Mmj. After 7 years and 1000's of plants it got old. I wanted a change. I'll take the foil of thanks man

well you said shotgun so props for figuring that one out. while you wait for them to colonize save money or whatever you need to do and please for the love of the mushrooms buy a food dehydrator.
above a microwave is a good spot but make sure no vents blast hot air into the cupboard like an above the stove style one.. and some indirect light is good.
for your next grow get wbs w/out corn. its good you just soaked it. never simmer wbs..ever. it will clump up and be nasty, especially with corn in it.
ive grown mj and did tons of gardening/landscaping in my youth.. forget everything you know. the only useful thing to carry over is a joint while you read shroomery. and field capacity of substrates i guess. but do not treat them like a plant.

I have a dehydrator already. I'm a jerky fanatic lol. I'll be honest I don't cook ever lol so there isn't any temp variations other than ambient. I do have the microwave light on as it feel a tad bit warmer. The main reason I soaked was to get the endo spores to grow. I read an article that said to double or even triple pressure cook your bird seed because some endos are harder to kill or something. Idk I was planning on doing twice next time. I think also I want to put some exhaust rtv on the kids instead of Polly. But I'm worried about the mycilium stalling out. Any oppinions on that? I also am going to try g2g with these 2 pints into as man at jars as I can.

If you are spawning grain to bulk forget the SGFC and do monotubs instead. Way easier. For grain jar lids the main thing is having gas exchange. I prefer either SFD style lids or unmodified lids on loose. I recommend SFD overy anything else. They are a bit pricy but last for years.
Don't worry about soaking for endospores. If you want to kill em, PC longer. It's all about overkill. I never soak grains anymore, usually most of my prep is just a boil or simmer. The PC does the real work.

ive never double pc wbs. 90-100ish min at 15psi.
poly for lids works just fine.
rtv is for self healing injection sites. you would still need something for gas exchange. poly/sfd/tyvek.

Pasty..... I think for the time being I will do all the the steps until I feel comfortable skips some. This way I know I did everything that needs. Money really Isn't an issue persay. I would rather use those bags I've seen but I can't seem to find them online. I think I could fit more in those bags and be cleaner throughout idk...... I would like to do bulk mono and that's where I'm heading but I wanted to do some smaller trays a few times before I jump into all my eggs in one basket.
Mush......That's what I heard. I say it on YouTube then read about t online stalling out the mycilium growth because it runs out of air

What I had planned on doing is useing those Rubbermaid cheap #5 plastic food containers like 1quart size you get at Walmart and do the 70/30 coir verm and put those in my storage tote with perlite..... Once I feel ok with that I'll just switch it to a mono but I really want a clone of something good worked through agar before I go really any further than just a tub like I planned

Doing a monotub isn't skipping anything. It's just a different way of fruiting that is easier and less work.

Skipping steps as in not soaking for 24hrs. Sorry for not clarifying. I agree with the YouTube comment there is one that is like a couple hours long that talks alittle about a lot but I'm back to reading.
I'll be real with y'all. I was injured in Iraq and have a TBI. Reading gets difficult so that's why it took me so long to get to this step. But cheers and happy growing
Not much to report today as far as my grow jars are chugging along I'll post a picture later. I noticed last night..... On the 13th I knocked up 6 more pint jars and I saw a speck of growth last night so there off as well

I feel your pain brother, I am in the process of my conversion from gardening to mycology. This is much more rewarding in my opinion! Also thank you for your service to this country! I salute you sir! Without guys like you we wouldn't have the freedom to partake in this hobby.

Soaking for 24 hours is a good way to ensure you have more CFU'S to deal with than what was originally there. Skipping 20 year old outdated information is a good thing.

Good day ladies and germs
A few days ago it kids seemed that my first two jars stalled out or something. Or I'm just impatient and smoke them. They are rocking and rolling today. Electric bill was a little high this month so the last few days the Ac has been set at 75. I removed the tin foil as per I trusted and just waiting. I did order some bags to start inoculating with. I think I can fit the most big seed in my pc with those and they have the handy dandy port and all that jazz. Looked around Wally World yesterday kinda planning my FC but still thinking weather a bunch of small ones or a big one

Hmmm and the last 4 jars I tried to inoculate still aren't doing anything..... Like at all. Thought about giving them some more spores? Ideas?
