Wallets 1

I missplaced my wallet after sniffing a large line of ketamine and going skinny dipping in the ocean some night last week.
I feel like a persons choice of wallet, like their choice of shoes or watch says a fair a bit about the type of person they are.
The time has finally come for me to buy an a decent 'adult' wallet. I don't mind spending a bit of money on it either, but I want something that will actually last and look suave. I know nothing about brands or shit like that and I've bought shitty ones off of ebay before, so this time I'm going to do it right.
Anyone got any recommendations or suggestions?

I have an old trifold hurley wallet from my teenage years that I'm looking to replace. I'm considering a dark leather bifold. Bifolds carry less but I guess that would force me to be less reliant on having multiple cards.

What kind of wallet was it that you lost?
I've been using a simple bi fold wallet that my dad gave me when I was like 10 or something.
By the time he gave it to me it was already 10 or 15 years old.
Leather.
Just get a leather wallet that has sturdy seams. As long as you don't lose it or try and break it, it should last until you can give it to your kid. Or until whenever you decide to retire it.

This wallet shopping thing is hard.. pics and links would help. I'm a big fan of simplicity and brown leather, but I don't even know where to begin to look for one that isn't going to fall to bits within a month.

Leather with 2 ID slots & 8-10credit/card slots . Divider for two amounts of money. Preferably a zipper on one pouch
That's my perfect wallet & current wallet . Just got a new wallet because my last wallet was literally falling apart and my sniffing straw kept falling through the holes. It has a really nice rich brown leather

Sounds like mine. No zipper pouch on mine. My dad gifted it to me 6/7 years ago and its still holding up pretty well. Leather bi-fold is what you want!
I used a money clip for a while, but felt to sketchy keeping it in my front wallet. This summer actually, I watched a kid's money clip fall out of his pocket in one of my classes. He didn't notice until someone pointed it out- dude had like a rack stuffed in that clip too.

If I were looking for a wallet that fit your criteria, I'd start here and here. same site but slightly different lists
Personally, I have a handmade wallet made of Koa wood from Kauai, Hawaii when I visited there. Most of them had little cheesy beach scenes or chickens (tons of the things on that island) etched into them with a laser or something but I asked for one without and she went in the back and brought out a bunch of plain ones in a box that hadn't been etched, and she let me pick whatever one I wanted. I found one with knots in the wood on both sides of the wallet--the only one like it. The nice lady that made it trimmed the extra thread off of it before she sold it to me, the final detail hinting at the handmade process. It's pretty gorgeous one of my favorite keepsakes

You can get nice leather wallets that have the RFID protection built in for like $35 on Amazon. If you have a debit/credit card with the chip on it, it might be a worthy investment.

Adult wallet psh.
I have a dark purple velcro wallet. I get ragged on for it a lot, it adds for good jokes.

Velcro wallets are awesome, people can't steal your money without you hearing it a mile away. Saved my buddy from being robbed in his sleep when everyone else got their wallets and purses emptied. I'm shocked the guy didn't take his wallet entirely.

For traditional, mens wallets the basic choice is between a bi-fold and tri-fold. After that, the next choice is material, though leather is the classic choice.
Personally, I go with a classic tri-fold leather wallet.
Alternatives are money clips, and slimmer types of clips.

Swimming on ketamine sounds like a recipe for drowning. I'd avoid such a thing at all costs.
That being said just get a simple black leather bi-fold or tri-fold wallet.
I have simple $5 black wallet that has held up for years.

Dude, the wallet I'm using is the first and only adult wallet I've ever owned. I got it around 14 years old at the market of marion in central Florida. It is a symbol of my own stability in some weird way. When I don't want to loose something, I stick it in my wallet. I lost it in the Ocala national forest and went back to find it. It's made of leather and was the only thing to survive a small fire at my grandma's house. It is essentially the only material possession to stick with me through every fucking experience I've ever had.
I'm kind of mind-blown at this right now actually. Every time I went to jail... my homie wallet was booked in with me. Through every crazy experience, both psychedelic and surreal... my homeboy, my wallet was there. Fuck a fly on the wall... if my wallet could talk, oh boy the things it would say.

ive been thinking about swapping over to a clip instead of a wallet. Or something in between. Anyone have recommendations on that? Wallets are just to big, and ive heard can be bad for you if you sit on them all day
Edit: Someone gifted me a magnetic one a few years ago. It could barely hold cash, let alone if you put cards in it wouldnt hold at all. At the very least I need something that will hold cash, one credit card, and my drivers license. Dont think thats to much to ask for.
my biggest concern with money clips is its hard to hide your cash. Busting out a wad of money to buy some smokes at a gas station just feels sketch compared to keeping your money hidden in a wallet and just pulling out a fiver.

This wallet is pretty dope: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Leather-RFID-Blocking-Wallet-for-Men-by-FIREWALLET-Durable-Thin-New-/222251622950?nav=SEARCH
Currently, i own a unisex "long wallet". It has an outer side with slots for cards with a button strap to hold em down and a clear sleeve for an ID on the other.
My favorite part is the zipper side for cash AND change! No more jingling change in my pocket. Way better. da best.
Long wallets FTW.

A wallet tip, straight from a cop, to Asante, to you.
Carry TWO wallets. One your real wallet with the real cards and the real money and a fake wallet with BS cards and enough money for normal transactions.
If a situation seems shifty, pay from the fake wallet. When robbed, immediately hand over the fake wallet.
Even seen a robber go "OK now gimme your REAL wallet?" nope they grab and run.
I'd rather part with a few tenners than with my real cards or with my health if I'm mot immediately compliant. Mostly its for drugs anyway.
Likewise I have 2 accounts at the bank, the one I receive my income on and pay my bills from (the "Master" account) and one that gets a weekly stipend whhich I live off, with a debit card.
This is the card I carry. If I lose it, fuck it. At worst a week worth of money is lost. if I get made to ATM it empty, same deal. just the stipend, no overdraft possible. It also helps me against spending sprees of a drug induced nature

If someone fucks right off I would rather part with my fake wallet than kill or injure them.
Getting robbed is not a matter of honor and a few tenners are nothing to fight over. I don't want to harm someone if I can avoid it.
Suppose the assailant has a screwdriver (a much better stabbing weapon than most cheap knives), am I to risk lung and gut punctures or a stab throught the heart if all the fighting can be avoided?
As the cop said to me: "In almost all cases they want the shortest route to the money and the quickest way out of there. Best way to deescalate is to give them what they want and watch them run away."

I've had the same wallet for close to 16 years now. It's made by Fossil and still has most of the stitching. A little rough around the edges, but still in fairly good condition.
Edit: op, check out the wallets made of tyvekk, light weight, slim and very durable.
