Cell/Pore Pressures In Growing Mushrooms
    #23657234 - 09/18/16 10:31 PM (7 years, 4 months ago)

I was watching some of the Stamets stuff on YT and it was said that a particular species ejects its spores at 10000 G (could have been 1000 G).

Question, are there cellular/ pore pressure numbers out there for the common park / lawn mushrooms (chlorophyllums, agaricus, etc...)that come out of hard pack soil / grass. The amount of dense turf/sod/soil these mushrooms are pushing up is amazing. They are popping all over SoCal.

Is there a proper myco term for this cellular pressure?

I don't have an answer to your question.
But here's a video of "cannonball fungus" (Sphaerobolus sp.) releasing it's spores.

Pick up any fungal text book.  The leading edge of Hyphae exert 1000+psi in force, they do break down rocks after all
