Six Year Old Syringes... Any hope in hell?

I'm going to test these regardless, but was just curious what you guys thought. I saw threads talking about 1-2 year old syringes, but this quite a bit older.
Storing conditions were temperate, in a dry, cool basement.
These are Azure and Pan Cam syringes I never got to, so I sure do hope they're viable

Do spores even expire? AFAIK they can survive space travel so I think you'll be okay

Interesting! I hope you report back with findings? How are you gonna use them? to grain, agar, etc.....?
If you are proficient with agar I would think that would be the best way to pull any viable growth away from any possible contams that they might have picked up over the years.

Yes, they can expire. Aka by germinating and then dying. And any left over would simply not be viable.
This is a waste of time IMO. The only way you can use 6 year old spores is if they are a dry print.

I would not be surprised at all if they germinated.

Spores will last longer in water than dry. But 6 years is a stretch especially for copes which seem to have a short lifespan compared to cubes.

I see. I thought dehydrated spores would remain dormant until rehydrated, aka the rattle snake venom method I saw RR discuss.
And I also thought spores in liquid would consume whatever energy they could to germinate, and eventually die because of lack of nutrients.
Could you explain, I'm curious in furthering that part of me thinker.

Water has no nutes. They won't germinate in distilled water and it's a rare thing in tap as well.
RR used snake venom to break down the cell walls of really old spores to get them to germinate. It's not a method that is going to be attractive to 99.9% of people.

Its weird space cause I have used cube prints that were 5 years old with no issues but also had 3 year old cubes that refused to budge. Stored well etc. Kinda sad cause I lost my KSSS from wilsolvem that way. 3 year old print wouldn't germ.

the only prints I've had realproblems with have been ones I later suspect have been infected by vert or similar. I still got some germination but its was impossible toclean properly and basically made fruiting anything a living hell.
But I've seen several posts and teks like pressurised syringe on how to deal with stubborn spores, but havent had much problems at all myself. knock on wood!

RESULTS ARE IN
So it's taken some time to get back to this... Here's some pics from today.
PSY AZURE
This is a six year old syringe from one of the sponsors. Here's pics of the three dishes. Can anyone say if it looks like mycelium from psy azures?

I'll post pics of my Pan Cyan dishes shortly.... These.... these don't look as good to me... stay tuned.

PAN CYANS
So, another 4-6 year old syringe here. Lots of growth, but it looks so fuzzy and LOTS of areas. I did use a lot of MS drops on these plates, but also the Azures and others which did not grow with so many germination spots. Grew super quickly as well... So I am doubtful of these, but I have no idea, which is why I'm here
