Quick Fairy Ring ID Needed - Want to cook! (Marasmius oreades)
    #23652796 - 09/17/16 11:08 AM (7 years, 4 months ago)

Marasmius oreades??

- All these mushrooms grew in arcs together in my lawn.  It is fall in Michigan where I picked these.

- Brownish mushrooms, some lighter brown some darker

- They have a bump on the top, usually darker color.

- Stem when broken is fibrous and thin

- Adnate on the gills, none were running down the stem

- Could not obtain any spores when running my finger on gills

- Gills have the alternating pattern of long and short, see picture

- smell like mushrooms!

- No volva on the bottom, just went into the ground connected to mycelium, no bulge even

- No ring on stems or veil

I need ID confirmation before I eat these!

2016 was a good year, +5 lb of Morels, and I ate 8 new species of wild mushrooms:  Herecium, Chanterelles, Black Trumpets, Parasol Mushroom, Fairy Ring Mushroom (marasmius oreades), Wild Oyster, Slippery Jacks, Honey Mushrooms (found over 100lb, froze 4lb in my freezer.)

Thank you, sir!  Ate them cooked in butter.  Then in an omelet, then I made cream of mushroom soup.

All was good!
