It looks like your hands are going directly above the lid. If that's the case, then stop doing that. Also, the walls of the SAB should be more misted.

I'm ready to jump into agar and I have a couple questions.  First is the hole in the lid only for the pressure relief in the PC?  Because I bought some petri dishes and it just dawned on my that they never have holes. I liked the idea of the no pour and was gonna do it like this tek only with the petris, but then it dawned on me I probably can't as the pressure will crush them without a hole.  Is that correct?

Petri dishes don't need holes because they don't seal.

And you won't be doing this tek with petris, plastic petris cannot be PC'd and glass ones won't work because petris don't seal, and the boil-over will ruin them.  You can PC glass ones and pour, or pour into pre-sterilized plastic ones, but petris and no pour just don't work together in any fashion.

Thanks for the heads up man!  I guess I will go find some pp5 containers and put these petris on the shelf till i'm ready to go a pour route.

Also I scoured health and asian markets all over my town and the only AGAR AGAR's I could find are these.

I assume they will work fine, just wondered if anyone had used them and had any tips/tricks/or measurements they found that worked best with them.

The recipe here works fine.  Use weight for the agar, rather than volume, though.   Just realized I linked to this thread, in this thread.  Seriously though, first post.  I use the volume measurement for the potato flakes and 5g agar per cup of water.

2.5 grams agar
2 tsp (10 ml) potato flakes
1/2 cup (120ml) water

or

5g agar
4 tsp potato flakes
1 cup water

Get the one on top. Eden is a very overpriced brand and they're into some ultra right wing political stuff.

Definitely, and anyone that explicitly refuses to cover contraception in their employee health plan and donates heavily to pro life PACs (Eden) can go get fucked. Seriously it's just another form of misogyny and this world will not benefit from more unwanted children. I don't want to go anymore off topic than that so I'll GTFO now.

Well, I looked around on their website and didn't find anything "ultra right wing". They have an "important issues" page but its just anti-GMO stuff and one article on BPA.

Wouldn't want to play the devil's advocate here, but why you want your boss to buy you condoms? Just buy them at the store like everyone else? And since when was pro life "ultra right wing"? I thought that was like, maybe, a couple yards right of center.

Wasn't going to mention anything but I was just thinking the same exact thing. I mean, contraception health plan? Seriously? Isn't that why you get a job, so you can buy whatever it is that you want to buy?

That said, a lot of people recommend the telephone brand agar so it's a good one to get. Never seen the other one being mentioned but if it's good and cheap, who gives a flying fuck what party they support? As long as they are not into atom bombs and genocide, :saulgoodman:

Edit:

On second thought, get the telephone agar. AFAIK, telephone agar is powder and I just saw that the eden one is flakes. Flakes take a bit longer to dissolve IME.

IMO, the hole is there to reduce condensation more than anything. Relying on a hole with a filter to avoid getting your containers crushed by the pressure will force the air through your filter, possibly compromising it. You want the pressure to vent from the semi-open lid more than your GE hole. Now since the agar will already be in the container when the cycle finishes, it will have a lot more condensation than if you poured it so the GE hole will help clear that up much faster.

I'm talking about birth control, not condoms. Their health plan specifically doesn't cover birth control, emergency contraception, or abortions, and they donate heavily to pro life PACs.

.......... So? I can't see why that's a problem. :dealwithwhat:

You go to work, you get paid, you buy whatever the fuck you want. I can't see how anyone would go to an interview and be like, "yeah, that pay is badass... but.... Will you pay for birth control or pay to kill my unborn child if I ever get pregnant? No? GTFO then, keep the job and shove your money where the sun don't shine". How does that work? What about the people who don't want contraceptives in their life? Wouldn't they be missing out on something that costs money which they have no interest in? What about the older people or the men working in there, what do they do with birth control? Wouldn't it be better for everyone working for said company to get an "x" increase in wage, then what they do with that money is up to them and no one is missing out on anything.

My point is, the point in going to work is for money, contraceptives being a dealbreaker is retarted IMO. If anything, I think that an offer of free contraceptives is a breach of privacy. It's not your employer's business what you do in your free time, he pays you cash to do whatever it is you want to do. Wouldn't you rather have a great pay and no contraceptives rather than a minimum wage and a pill?

Plus, I can't begin to comprehend how a "pro-life" outlook can ever be frowned upon.

Anyway..... AGAR!

It's so ridiculously easy to get contraceptives for free or near free if you're broke, jobless, or minimum wages. And if you make money and have no insurance like my wife and i its totally the end of the world to pay 90$ every three months or 1$ a day to get the pill and be able to fuck.

Well, if you both have jobs and you enjoy fucking, it's not at all a bad deal.

Seems awfully silly to boycott a brand simply because they refuse to kill babies.

Edit:

I find it absolutely hilarious that TC would be more than happy to pay $10 per brick of coir but a dollar a day for peace of mind during sex makes him cringe.

I also don't think there's a guy on this earth that ever turned down some tail just because they "couldn't afford" the pill.

You live on a desert island, that's why you don't understand.  People who stand outside women's health/abortion clinics and tell teenage girls that got raped that they're going to hell are "pro-life".  Basically, they want you to have any baby that happens to be inside of you, regardless of if it's from rape or incest or incest rape or what have you, but they probably won't give a fuck about them once they're born and a drain on society like everyone knew they would be.  Pro-life sounds good in concept, but in practice it's ugly as fuck.

But yeah, let's.. definitely.. find our way back on topic.
